Hi,my much neglected garden needs plants.
First of all I am unable to get cuttings ect from family and friends.
I don't drive and cannot easily get to any nurserys or even a garden center(other then a very expensive one).
I have ordered some Laurel from ebay £44 for 25 2ft plants delivered, and Have dug out around my fence at the front so I can create a hedge.
Looked at thompson -morgan wow expensive  or is that just me?
I want hardy perennials white ,blue and Lilac (no pinks,I hate pink).
Anyone know of anywhere cheap,or am I just dreaming ?
Thanks for reading.

Thompson & Morgan are ridiculously expensive, but also, plants will always be expensive.
If you are willing exchange patience for money-saving then there is quite a lot of seed that can be sown now that will do something for you this year, and other stuff that will come into its own next year.
If that isn't soon enough, maybe get a few annuals for this year (markets, supermarkets etc), and sow seed for the more expensive perennials to start your perennial garden next year.0 -

good quality plants and the prices are ok.
They worked out slightly cheaper for laural than you paid on ebay but theirs were 12"-18" tall.
Have you considered bulbs too?0 -
Local market, aldi, lidl? It's a bit turn up and see what's there, but they do sometimes have some reasonable stuff.
Freecycle - stick a wanted ad in, and where you are able to collect from. I quite often get rid of unwanted plants that way.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
what kind of garden do you want?
also, dont panicFreedom is the freedom to say that 2+2 = 4 (George Orwell, 1984).

Like the man said, don't panic; it's only a garden.
There is no magic place where all those in the know get their plants cheaply, but some colourful seed-grown stuff will get you started, and if you do your research, it won't be too long before you are picking up plants for free and filling-in the gaps with something lasting.
For example, those laurel you bought are bigger than mine at the moment, but mine were seeds picked from the pavement a while ago. So there's £45 I've saved.Currently, I also have about 50 hawthorns and cotoneaster grown in the same way, some of them now small trees.
In my first garden most of the shrubs were grown from cuttings of bushes poking through railings etc. In the case of the variegated box, they are still with me in pots and worth hundreds of £ at garden centre prices, but they were all free.
It's only the rich & impatient who must spend out to get results quickly, but if you do buy plants on-line, make sure they're long-lived and capable of being easily divided. One plant can become a dozen relatively fast.0 -
car boots and markets, we have had quite a few from car boots and so far have been very pleased with what I've had for very little moneyTreat other's how you like to be treated.

garden centers have damaged plants area, some just need proper watering cutting back, or just finished flowering for this year so as others have said take your time decide what you need put a notice on the wanted board in local supermarket/ free paper etc.my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

If you could get someone to drive you to a B&Q or Homebase they very often have plants that look a bit worse for wear greatly reduced.
I bought quite a bit from B&Q last week that with a bit of care and attention (and some water!) have come on leaps and bounds in just a week. I paid anything from 20p for a pepper plant to £3(reduced from £8) for a whole tray to make a hanging basket. I will actually make at least two baskets from it possibly three with some other plants that I have.0 -
Neighbours?
Freecycle?
People with spanish bluebells often give them away. Year on year on year.0
