I don't think they were Smart Price mushy peas. They've never been that expensive. I suspect that they were probably branded and/or garden peas. :)

  • Asda Smart Price mushy peas are currently showing as 6p on Asda's website.

I've always bought the Smart Price ones, they are lovely with a warm pork pie and a dollop of mint sauce on top (although my husband who is not from these parts thinks this is completely wrong and downright weird).

They were deffo the smartprice ones, me and hubby couldn't believe the increase esp as I only just started buying them 2 weeks ago cos of this thread lol. I think maybe it was a shelf labelling error and they would have gone through the till at the cheaper price, will have to check next time I'm there.

I must have about half a dozen of the Tesco ones in the cupboard, but i'll get some more if they've come down. I use them when i'm making soup with whatever veges are on offer.

My children would not eat the cheap mushy peas-they said they didn't look right (because they were so pale), so I sneaked a bit of green food colouring in them and mixed them up-they love them now!

    Almost a given in ASDA.

They are going to get "done" under The Weights and Measures Act 1985 and the Price Marking Order 2004 one day.
