Vantage Lifestrategy - which one?

Hi,
I'm about ready to invest in the Vantage Lifestrategy 80 fund through HL as an ISA.
I've got £15k in the cash holding account and will be investing the full amount for the next 10-15 years.
Can I ask if anyone can think of a reason not to use the 80 fund, I'm 43 if that has any bearing on whether I should mitigate the risk a bit more and go for the 60 or 40.
Thanks

Well you know the old saying about holding your age in bonds and the rest in equities, but obviously depends on your investment strategy and risk profile. I asked similar questions a few months back...

Also lots of useful info on this site, I have found it really interesting....

There is also a good section on costs on the website above, if you only hold one tracker fund then HL is ok, I think any more and you may want to consider another provider.0 -
Thanks for that N2S, I searched for Vanguard so I don't know how I missed that.
I'm in the same boat as you, I don't have a lot of time to monitor the investment and it looks like a few people suggested actively managed funds, I thought the Vanguard Lifestrategy were actively managed?
What did you decide to do in the end?

Sorry for the delay in response, not been on the computer this weekend.
I decided to go back to basics and re read Tim Hales book again on smarter investing which I read a few yrs ago. I needed to be 100% happy and confident with my investing strategy. So I haven't made my mind up still! I am contemplating splitting the lump sum and putting a % into the Vantage (I like the 80:20), maybe buying a few blue chip shares and maybe an IT.
Have you decided?0 -

Hi, well I might drop a percentage into the Vanguard LS80 but I just don't have the time to do the investing justice so I think I might just invest in one of HL's managed (multi) funds and be done with it for now.
I guess I can always come back to it at a later date.

I know what you mean, but ask a question re managed funds on the main savings and investment board here as the help is great and I would imagine you would have few people agreeing the HL managed funds are the way to go. I think more would be recomending jupiter merlin and others. Be careful of the TER though, approx 2.57% certainly eats into any profit.
Good luck!0
