RBS & Santander Question..

Same with me. I closed 4 accounts with 16- prefixed sort codes and left 3 accounts with 83- prefixed sort codes open (2x current in Edinburgh and 1x Direct Saver). Surprise surprise this evening when I saw that the 83- Direct Saver is going to Santander! So now I can't just do an account-to-account transfer from the Direct Saver to the 83- current accounts.
So another trip to the branch tomorrow to take out £97.10 in cash, pay it into one of the Edinburgh current accounts, then close the 83- Direct Saver. It was paying peanut interest anyway so no matter.
I just didn't realise that Direct Saver accounts were English/Welsh even though they have an 83- prefix.

You can't do an account-to-account transfer, but can't you just do a Faster Payment?0 -
Thanks, yes I could do a FP, but I'd first of all have to set up one of the 83- accounts as a payee using the card reader, then the first payment would be by BACS. Might as well go into the branch tomorrow when I go to the shops to get some eggs!
Just wish they'd made it clearer that it wasn't ALL 83- accounts that were staying with RBS. It's some of the 83- accounts.

I assume the direct saver account has an English address the same as business direct accounts have and they are going to Santander despite having the usual RBS 83 sort code.0

• Barclays Old A/C
• Nationwide Old A/C0 -
My direct saver has an 83 Sort code number, a Scottish branch address (when you looked on account details) but has still been transferred?!
Think I'll close it and find another savings account.
(On a similar note has anyone managed to log onto RBS.co.uk/Santander ?
I use the new login code given on a recent letter, but get to a page that says "the way you login has changed..." and can't go any further!)
Update-it seems to be working ok now, I can log in.

I noticed my direct saver account had moved to Santander yesterday, it has a Glasgow address attached to it and is an 83 sort code.
I called RBS this morning and was told that all Direct Saver accounts are with Santander until June and then they will all be transferred back to RBS as part of the sale process.
Didn't quite understand this as why move my account from RBS to Santander and then back again?
They said to use the card reader to transfer money from the savers account to my other accounts for now and that in June all will go back to normal.
Has anyone else tried calling RBS and can confirm this? Thanks

You've been on this site for 12 months and still want a santandire account?0 -
All done. Cash out of 83- Direct Saver, in 83- current account.
When the changeover has gone through completely, I'll just open a new direct saver account when I go into the E'burgh branch - the first year attracts a bonus interest rate so will at least benefit from that again...
No-one in the branch knew why these 83- accounts had moved to Santander.

Ouch.Wrong
just logged in RBS now
Current account and savings account are staying with RBS
But my other savings account WHICH IS sort code 83 is being moved to santander i have to log in the santander/rbs page to view that.
!!!!!!
That has got to be an RBS mess up?
I didn't see any mention of any of their 83-xx-xx accounts being transferred to Santander. But maybe these accounts were with NatWest behind the scenes? Scottish NatWest accounts are moving to Santander. Just a thought.0
