talkmobile scam!

hello,

So I've had a lot of problems with Talkmobile this year and the whole experience has been rather frustrating.

I signed a six month contract and got the £8 a month sim only contract with them via Carphone Warehouse. About two or three days later it suddenly stopped working on my iPhone 4. From then on, I was literally sent back and forth between Carphone warehouse, APply (as Carphone warehouse kept saying it was my phone being factory locked or something).

Apple confirmed my phone was working fine and there was nothing wrong with it. Other sims all work on it. Just this sim. talkmobile had no response except to say you pay for the sim and as the sim works on a standard £10 phone I had to purchase, there's nothing they can do.

The whole back and forth process took just over two weeks, throughout which I was in contact with Talkmobile as well and they knew the issue. Two weeks AFTER I signed the contract, they said I should have cancelled it within the two weeks. of course this was something that I was probably told earlier anyway but it's just ironic how i wasn't reminded about it later.

Now I had to keep using this sim on another phone and put aside my iPhone in the meantime. Then last month on the 17th of April I lost my phone and I went to Carphone Warehouse and asked them to cancel the sim. In order to replace the sim I have to pay ten pounds and bearing in mind I would also have to pay another ten to buy a phone, I just said to cancel the sim's usage and I went and got an O2 sim. So happy with their service.

Is there anything that could have been done with this whole thing? also the last bill payment I was charged is £20. now I MIGHT have gone over the limit by this much so tomorrow I have to call them or go to the carphone warehouse store and ask them to look into the matter.

But seriously, what could I have done with this whole issue? i honestly didn't know what to do as no one was willing to help.

Using simple logic, if the sim and service which you pay for is working perfectly fine in another phone, then therefore the problem is with the phone and not with the sim. I don't see how this is Talkmobile's problem. Where did you purchase the phone?
Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug). ;)

I have had a similar problem, my daughter has had her TalkMobile phone for 20 months now, but all of a sudden she has gone over her data limit, which has left me with a £150 bill, even though there is a £20 limit.

I have phoned them and every time I am told she is using mobile data, yet she has WIFI at home.

The times are bizarre ie 3:40 etc.

    Any help!!!!

Sounds like mobile data is switched on and phone is updating or syncing in the background .
Possible that at home its not actually using the WiFi. Wifi switched off wrong password etc .
Plenty of apps to check data usage and dependant upon the phone it may be also available in settings .
  • Its possibly an autodialler hack. I have heard that this can happen with data or premium calls being made from talkmobile phones via scammers using autodiallers in rogue apps etc.
