British Gas!!!!!! Disconnection!!!!!
Options
We have been in dispute with British Gas now for over a month, over a bill for £41, for gas they mistakenly think they have supplied us, which infact was supplied by N Power whom we transfered to before the date of the period when British Gas are billing us for, Transco have even told us who supplied what and when. We have now been promised return phone calls from customer service managers on numerous occasions, but today we recieved a notice of disconnection!!! Any advice would be gratefully accepted, what course of action, and to whom would you recommend contacting, because we just cannot get British Gas to get their head from up their a***.

Ah, the quite legendary FLS team has failed again.
Call energywatch mate0 -
Thanks tripled, exuse my ignorance but what is the FLS team? I'll give energywatch a ring in the morning!0

The front line support team deal with account problem relating to a change of supplier or meter, such as accounts not closed/opened correctly, incorrect meter details, etc. When you are promised a callback, it is supposed to be them that contacts you, but if you have a received a callback I'd be astonished.
They do have a direct line number which someone posted on this forum recently, it's 08459555703, but it'll be easier for you to just ring energywatch0 -
Can definately recommend Energywatch, I registered a complaint about British Gas with them and my problem was resolved within days and a refund sent to meITV Winners Club #87 :eek:0

They are a nightmare. We have now phoned 12 times noted every call. Demanded calls back, been pomised every time. We have waited on the line and demanded to speak to a manager (no joy). Spoke to a supervisor last week who promised to e-mail us with an apology and would clear the account down - But NO MAIL. Tomorrow will call them again, give them another blasting, plus energy watch and the CAB. Frightened about being black listed as the letter we have had threatens alsorts.....I.e disconnection; a warrant with fees of up to £235 and disclosure to the credit reference agendcy. All this from a Gas supplier who doesn't even supply our gas against an estimated bill.0

To be honest, there is absolutely no point and phoning and giving them another blasting, it won't actually get you anywhere. Also don't worry the letter, to get you disconnected they have to go to court and get a warrant first and that takes months, and even if it came to that you could attend and prove they had no right to disconnect you. Regarding your credit rating, they don't record defaults while an account is still active, so you don't need to worry. Just call energywatch tomorrow, your troubles will be taken away hopefully to be replaced by a nice compo cheque0

They only need a warrant if the meter is inside the property. Its worth noting that. If its outside they can do it by sending someone round to visit the property and if no ones in, they are with in there legal rights to swap the meter as its there property (On a moral ground however its a grey area).
I would hope that companies review these on a indivdual case by case basis - But to be frank I don't see this happening realistically.0 -

WHY PHONE?
especially 12 times!
Just write a letter and send recorded delivery, with a copy to energywatch. Less time! less expence! less hassle! and almost certainly better results!
and you have proof of what you said.0 -
BG can`t disconnect if they are not your supplier. At worst all they can do is pass it onto debt collection agencies and if you show them they are not your supplier they will pass the debt back. I would do what Cardew suggests0

Taken from the energywatch website...Even if your meter is outside the supplier has to apply for a warrant from the Court to come onto your property to disconnect the meter. They should tell you that they will be applying to the Court within a certain amount of time for example, seven days from the date of the letter they send.
