is this a Talkmobile scam? what to do

I went into carphonewarehouse store in Archway in january to cancel my talkmobile contract as I was leaving the country 3 months before the end of the contract. They said that was fine I just had to pay the remainder of the contract. So I gave the Talkmobile customer service person my card details. The salesman in CPW took the phone, took my pac number from talkmobile and then called O2 to give them the pac and transfer my phone over. I left the country that day and just assumed it had been transferred over - why wouldnt' I? I heard the guy talk the whole thing through in front of me.

So yesterday I found out that talkmobile are still taking £20 a month - even though the contract was terminated in january. I contact them and they say yes they have a record that I called to make a termination payment - but they have no record of the payment and my pac code wasn't used. I now have to give another 30 days notice - and pay £45 more than I would have if the cancellation had gone through in January.

I tried calling CPW but after 20 minutes hanging on I got cut off - I emailed talkmobile and they say I need to call them to cancel the account - but I can't call 0870 numbers from abroad.

I'm very p****d off. Anyway don't ever take out a contract with Talkmobile - they are appalling. The best company - I've had no problems with them - is O2.

Did you use your PAC? It supersedes any other termination request, if you asked for a PAC and didn't use it then the account will carry on running. If you don't intend to use the PAC then you should give the standard notice on the contract.
