will this change when my rbs account becomes santander?

OK had a letter that from 20th May our RBS account access will change over to a new site for santander and then I assume eventually move over to the main santander site.
At the moment RBS have a system where you set it up so if any payments that day will push you overdrawn they email and/or text you to let you know at around 9am and give you till close of business to pay funds in to clear. If you do this no penalty is charged. This means it is alot easier to budget for us (OH was contracting on weekly pay, then on benefits and now is going self employed) so I can put money away over the month and transfer it back if required. Now obviously I try to do this the day before, but with the RBS system if there is a slip there is no issue and I can sort it.
So just wondering what the santander account is like. Can you pay in ON THE DAY and avoid bounced payments and charges or is it one of those accounts where the funds have to be in the day before to avoid problems. If so I am going to have to be extra vigilant knowing there is no safety net.
Also at the moment we can make FP which are instant from our other RBS and natwest accounts. What is santander like for FP?
I also have an old A & L account that moved to santander and I dread to think how santander will link the lot together lol.

The alerts that Santander have are listed here:

Santander's FPs are excellent - anything up to £100k will go by FP.0 -
Thanks for that looks like little will change then hopefully.
I just hope there isn't an issue when they try to combine the RBS account with the existing santander savings account I have already (this was ex a & l).

BACS credits into a Santander account take the usual 3 days and credits at a bank take the usual 7 working days. But they do Faster Payments which gets the money into the account within a couple of hours or so.
Old A & L accounts can't usually be linked to new Santander accounts and vice versa for the use of online banking. So you'll most likely be stuck with phone banking for one of them if you keep both.
But the good news is that old A & L accounts can withdraw money at the Post Office if the account was opened before July 2010 even if the cash/debit card is a Santander one.

What do you mean "linked"? My old Premier A&L account is on the same internet banking screen as my new Santander savings account.0 -

Mine too...Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorn is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that she is pink; we logically know that she is invisible because we can't see her."0 -

Both old A & L and Santander accounts in the same online banking.
If you're telling me that you have that then I'm going to get on to Santander and I'm not going to be happy: I applied for a savings account but when I got to the link to card screen to link it to my online banking, the first six digits of my debit card which are old A & L didn't match to the first six digits list required. The info I got was that the two accounts cannot be linked and I have to do phone or post banking for the Santander savings account. That's why my savings account is at Newcastle Building Society - to get online banking for it. It would be much simpler to have both current and savings on the same online banking.0 -

1 , are you using the newest Santander internet banking platform ?
2, have you attempted the "Add, remove or rename an account" function ?
3,are you using the Alliance & Leicester internet banking platform ?
4,have you attempted the "show hidden accounts" function ?
5, have you attempted registering the new account as a separate login , in other words a separate internet banking registration for each account ?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. i may have missed something here.. but since when did Santander take over RBS?
they are competitor banks, and cant see them transferring a/cs unless the OP requested it?

RBS are having to sell their branches in England and Nat West to sell their Scottish branches. Santander have bought them. (Something to do with the "bail-out I think).
Personally I would transfer my RBS acc to Nat West or vice versa rather than let it go to Santander.

Read all the myriad of posts complaining about user's experiences when they have taken over every bank previously. eg Abbey ,Alliance & Leicester and Bradford & Bingley.
Move your account now whilst it's till easy to do so. Many of the people that will appear on here praising them will actually be working for them.0
