The Broadband Resource is a non-profit website designed to provide broadband campaigners with the information they need to run their campaigns.
There is a broadband availability checker (by postcode or phone number)
You can see if your local exchange is broadband enabled and the capacity status. Also shows if there is a LLU competitor to BT (eg Bulldog, Ntl, Telewest)
eg for Bermondsey (LLU - Bulldog, Easynet and Homechoice) VP Status is Amber (If your exchange is Red or Amber then you may find that at peak times your speed may degrade.) Bermondsey is due a VP upgrade on 28.3.05

For anyone considering Broadband for the first time, or indeed migrating to another ISP, you would do well to also review http://www.adslguide.org.uk
This site gives reviews of current ISP offerings and cost of ownership. Also shows exchange availability and has an active forum where you can judge the service people are receiving (Reliablity, availability, Customer service etc.)
Enjoy.

Can highlly recommend this site, used it all the time when I was campaigning for broadband for a couple of local exchanges.
JohnnypanicThe person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.0
