Tesco Carrickfergus - insulting and disgraceful behaviour

Well, earlier we had a telephone conversation with the Customer Service Chief Executive (based in Dundee). It lasted about 35 minutes and it was all very civil.
His attitude was helpful right from the start. He had read all the details of the complaint and spoken to the Carrickfergus Store Manager. He was most apologetic not just about our treatment but also the unacceptable delay in dealing with our complaint. Unfortunately, however, he said that Tesco could not compel the staff to apologise. He said that he believed we had a genuine grievance but, of course, it was our word against theirs. CSCE offered his unreserved apologies on behalf on Tesco.
Nevertheless it was a pleasant change to communicate with someone who was prepared to take our complaint seriously. Out of four Tesco employees CSCE was the only one who really tried to help.
Near the end of the conversation he offered us a Moneycard worth £50. We had not asked for any recompense as our motivation was not monetary. We would have preferred no cash but a genuine apology. As stated above this was not going to happen so, having waited about 10 weeks for a response, I thought it appropriate to accept this offer as my partner deserved some sort of treat for the upset caused.
As well as buying a present for my mother and a good friend (both offered good advice regarding our complaint), we have decided to donate £10 to the MSE site charity. I have seen this mentioned on a thread somewhere but do not know any details. Please could a Moderator/Board Guide/Admin member oblige with advice, either on here or by PM? We have gained a lot from the MSE forums over the last year or so and would like to give something back.
CSCE was very professional and courteous and has restored a little faith in Tesco for us. We will of course never return to the Carrickfergus store but may consider selectively using the Newtownabbey one near Abbeycentre. There are a few necessary items which would probably best be purchased in Tesco.
Thank you for all the contributions to these threads.
So we finally achieved some sort of resolution soon after posting on the MSE and Tesco Blog site. A coincidence?0 -

A free £50 is a free £50. Might try it myself. I have no integrity either, when it comes to free cash!Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!
