    If some who claims CA, claims IS, do they get their CA taken off of them (but still have the underlying entitlement) and then the carers premium added to IS? Or would they continue to have the CA in payment?

    If you are talking couple, carer lives with disabled person, if the CA has been in payment, it is deducted as income off the IS, if not in actual payment, then its just an underlying entitlement - but either way the money works out as the same for either scenario.

    My hubby receives CA each Monday in actual payment, it is deducted off our IS which is paid on a later day.

    If the person has always had CA in payment, that payment should stay in place and be deducted off IS, and then the carer premium added to IS.

    You get awarded IS at the appropriate level for a single person or a couple and you get a carer's premium which is currently £32.60. You also get the carers allowance paid in full, but the amount of IS paid will have the CA deducted as Income.

    IS single rate = £71+£32.60 = 103.60
    CA = £58.45
    Total paid = (£103.60 - £58.45) + £58.45 = £103.60

    Someone not entitled to IS would just get CA at £58.45

    Not really no, because the claim is in your wife's name and she is claiming on the grounds of being a carer, so ensure the claim remains in her name.

    Where it may get complicated is if you loose the MRC which means she looses her claim to IS as a carer. If that happens you will need to either claim ESA or JSA and appeal to reinstate your MRC allowance if you still fit the criteria.

    Not sure how CA and PIP are going to work though, but no point worrying yet.

    Whats MRC?

    Also Carers allowance is in Payment now and has been for a while.

    Middle rate care of DLA which I am presuming you get? You have to get either middle or high rate care to be entitled to carers allowance.

    Whether it is in payment or not, if they lower your award, the carers allowance will cease.

    In answer to the OP you would get IS at £85.60 (includes carer premium)
    and a disability premium of £43.25
    TOTAL = £128.85 per week

    There is also a severe disability premium which she would not get because it's not her who is disabled and she gets Carers Allowance. CA & SDP are almost equal in amount theres only 25pence difference and you either get one or the other not both.
    All other amounts quoted will remain in payment

    If you remained on ESA on appeal you would be on reduced payments of £53 (not sure if you would qualify for the carer's premium on appeal £32.60 but I would think so.
    Again there would be a disability premium possibly on appeal (not sure)£21.30
    possible total £106.90

    If you remained on ESA and won the appeal and it was a NEW CLAIM for ESA (not an IB transfer) You would get all the quoted benefits plus
    ESA @ £85.60 (includes carers premium)
    WRAG component of £28.15
    Disability premium £21.30
    TOTAL £135.05 per week plus all the arrears
    all other quoted benefits would remain.

    If you had continued and won your appeal being an IB migration customer you would get I think exactly the same as the rate for ESA above because you are a couple, I think it must be only single people who get paid more on ESA because they carry over their IB rate with them. Is that right anyone?

    Conclusion you're going to be £7 a week worse off on IS than ESA
    but you won't have all the hassle that comes with ESA.

    They are claiming IS as a couple.... Your amounts are for a single person.

    They would get £111.45 + DP + CP less CA.

    But in a long winded complicated way, and SDP shouldn't even be mentioned since none of them are entitled to it, so totally unsure why it's been mentioned?

    Easy formula for them to understand is:

    They would get £111.45 + DP + CP less CA - simples :D
