They are a very good company to work with - all the best with your IVA

They are a referrer though, they do not do IVA's directly, and therefore not strictly necessary. If you approach an IP directly, then, assuming acceptance, your IVA will be 60 months (typical) and not 63 so I don't really see the point.

Well I FINALLY got my IVA approved on the 1st June with Debt Free Direct!!

It was agreed that I pay £130 a month for 72 months and any debt after that will then be written off!!

I've calculated I will be £70 a month better off; its nice to have some money in my pocket now instead of worrying about bills!!

Out of my 4 creditors, Halifax have been the most nuisance; their collections department even rang me the same day as the IVA meeting and tried to take payment from me; I refused to take the call and told Halifax basically in a nice way to sod off!!

If they do fone me again I will report them to Debt Free Direct for breaching the IVA, and I will change my telephone number!!

One question I would like to ask which I forgot to ask DFD; can my creditors sell the debt on even with an IVA enforced!!??

    I've had enough of Halifax!!

I have just checked my online banking and the bastids have taken a £25 charge out of my account for not paying my loan when they know that there is an IVA on the 1st June!!

This is only going to add to the debt!!

This money was taken today from my account!!

    I cant believe Halifax!!

I've tried foning DFD but none is there as it is gone 5pm!!

Can Halifax do this even with an IVA enforced!!

No they can't. But, in their defence (which I don't often do) the banking arm operating your account probably don't even know yet and haven't told the computer !! To be honest £25 added to your IVA is neither here nor there and will be more than covered at the write off at the end. But, out of principle I would inform DFD so it isn't included in their dividend claim.

Are you on the "other" forum ( which I am not allowed to mention) ? As a member of the DFD team posts over there.

    Thanks for that!!

I will be foning DFD this morning and asking them to sort it out!!

I will ask them to add it to the debt.

Halifax have got a bloody cheek and their representative who did the IVA meeting should have put a note on their system; so its their fault!!

I am not paying for the fact I simply have no money!!

Halifax have been the only creditor who has behaved badly during the IVA process; I am also thinking of making a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service over this matter!!

Just foned DFD about the above.

They said to ignore the fees being taken from my Halifax account because its normal practice.

Halifax are in trouble for doing this anyway as it breaches the IVA and they are only taking money from themselves!!

I have been advised to keep a close eye if Halifax threaten debt collectors or if they pass the debt on to contact DFD immediately and they will send them information about the IVA!!

I will ultimately change my fone number so I cant get any fone calls DFD said it was extreme measure but to do it if that happens.

It is unlikely that they will send doorstep debt collectors because of the cost; they also cant get a Court order because of the IVA!!

Feel much more reassured now for foning DFD; they are first class and would recommend them to anyone!!

Hi MUMZ2BEE, dont bother to change your phone number the calls will stop sooner rather than later, tell them you have the IVA and give them your IVA details, you may get some letters two , i forwarded on mine to my IP, i am 9 months in and in credit at my bank etc first time in yrs, i monitor my account every 3-4 days and have been very pro active on keeping an eye on my outgoings,Good luck.
PS this forum has been really helpful to myself.

I just foned my cable company Virgin Media to ask if they can block the Halifax from ringing me. Unfortunately they cant block the number!!

I had Halifax fone me yet again last nite and when I told them I was in an IVA they didnt ask for the details they just hung up!!

I've decided to send their Collections Department which keeps ringing a short but nasty letter giving them the IVA provider, etc.

They took £25 from my account making me go overdrawn as I had no funds, so this will be added to the debt!!

Halifax have been nothing short of a bloody nuisance; they are my only creditor who is seriously harassing me and I am bloody fed up with it!!

They ring me every day and enough is enough; I keep telling them I am on an IVA but it doesn't stop them from ringing me again!!

Halifax are making me feel seriously depressed and I cant cope with another fone call!!

hello, I don't know if they still do this, but when I was going through my IVA setup back in 2002, my IP applied to the courts for an interim order to stop people from hassling me. It worked with 99% of the creditors, but there was one who persisted until I wrote to them enclosing a copy of the court order.

If they persist in ringing, let your IP know in case there is something that they can do to help. Alternatively, if your phone handset allows you to assign a ringing tone to particular numbers, programme their calling number into your phone book and assign either a silent tone if you have one, or a particular tone so that you know not to bother answering.
