o2 wont fix my phone

I have an HTC Desire phone for approx 18 months and have had a recurring intermittent problem where the phone switches itself off and gets caught in a cycle of rebooting- this can only be fixed through taking the battery and the sim out of the phone and trying to switch it on again, it often takes several attempts. I have checked online and believe this is quite a common problem with the handset.

So, as I had begun to get more annoyed I contacted O2 to get it sent for repair last week- I confirmed I had installed all of the updates and also done a soft reset. O2 told me that they are unable to fix it due to 'water damage' as this would be uneconomical to fix and isn't covered by their terms. I do not agree that the phone has been water or steam damage as I take good care of my handset. I am now left with a faulty phone until the end of my contract.

I am not at all pleased- has anyone had similar experiences and advice for me?

Thanks

never used the phone in the rain, had it in your car? kitchen water damage isnt so hard to get.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

What are the water damage indicators like? It's small white stickers inside that turn pink.

How do I look inside? Don't want to invalid warranty. I have not exposed handset to any extremes so not sure what caused damage. As I said I think this is a known problem and not sure why O2 won't just fix it, it is still under warranty.

Just remove the back cover and the battery. One is often on the battery near the contacts, another is on the chassis nearby. If they are white then there was no any moisture inside.

I'm seeing htc phones being fobbed off with water damage a lot lately. These stickers are easily tripped though. Apples policy is great though. if only one of the two external sensors is tripped and you dispute it they replace it anyway. They are meant to look at internal ones but can never be bothered.

I have to disagree. Mine are still white despite once I had to dry my Desire because of the considerable condensation on the inner side of the screen.

Thanks, I have checked and they are clearly white- so not sure how they believe it to be water damage though clearly not fool proof test. Just very annoyed with the whole situation as I understand it to be a known fault with the handset unconnected with moisture/water damage.

'Water damage' is a common excuse that many conpany use if they unable find the fault and repair it.
Stick to your guns. The indicators are placed there for a reason.
