Not sure what it's like now but the "Llandarcy Sports Academy" had a pretty good basic gym which would suit any beginner. I've not been there for about a year but I think it was around £15-£20 per month with no tie-in. Don't bother with the Glamorgan unless you plan on really hammering ALL the facilities - £60.00 a month for a 2/3 times a week trip is insane (and the membership is 1 year min).
