Gyms in swansea...
Options
Hi! anyone here go to the gym? Im looking into starting going, and was wondering about prices etc.. the best one Ive found so far is the health suite in the Grand Hotel on high st... Its £35 a month, but theres no contract, and its not paid by direct debit, so theres no commitment... Anyone know anywhere else?
You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

dont know whether swansea council offer such a scheme, but in cardiff we have something called a stretch card. as a student i pay £15 a year for the card, which then gets me half price admission to anything in any cardiff council run gym. for non students, it is obviously more expensive, but the savings are phenomenal.
i would highly recommend you give your local council gyms a go before you sign up to a big company - i was amazed at the facilities on offer. the gym i go to (maindy in cardiff) has a big gym with entertainment suite (tvs on the wall and audio outlets on all the machines), free water dispenser, towel dispenser etc. the staff are very friendly and only too happy to help.
could work out much cheaper than paying a set monthly fee? otherwise is there a YMCA gym? I would normally recommend the uni gym, but having seen their prices they really arent that competitive
btw, i keep meaning to ask, where abouts DO you work? im guessing its near the kingsway/city centre, as im sure youve said you're very close to the potter's wheel? i should pop in and say hello one day after uniknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
I work in a little shop called Jigsaw... Its on plymouth st, the same street as eli jenkins... If you come in, you've got to make yourself known... Not like janepig, who just stalks me from a distance!!! lmao....anyway... the gym thing! there are council gyms, but theyre all miles away! I dont drive, so id have to spend hours on the bus to get there! there are a couple of gyms in the city centre, which is where I live, but before I make the plunge, I wanted to find out peoples opinions etc...You lied to me Edward. Hi,
It depends if you want a gym or a health club.
I go to the John Burns gym next to Travel House by the train station. On a DD it is £21 a month. or a little more if you pay by other means. They have a reasonable website
It has a sauna, jacuzzi and steam room but no pool.
They are open 10-9 m-f and 10-3 S and S.
All trainers are excellent and there are two floors and lots of the kit is being replaced; women only and mixed where the very muscly men are.
Definitely better than any of the council gyms I've been to in Swansea. Some of the trainers are ex army so are vv good.0 -

Oi, I'm just shy okay!! I like to build up to things - perhaps I'll bring my scouse mate in with me for courage, she'll talk to anyone!
Jxx
PS: Re: gyms, you could always wait for the Council to finish the leisure centre!!! Or then again.........And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -

(oh wait, it sounds like im stalking you now!!!)
And once again lady luck has farted in my face - I've been over in Court this week so it's been business as usual for me, made worse by the fact that I can't get hold of anyone in the office for appointments/info, etc.... Meantime, everyone else is larging it up in the coffee shop!!! Here's hoping for continued gas leaks next week when I'm in the office all day.

my View is if you want a decent Gym why not go for the full luxury like the Glamorgan you pay for what you get with pool and everything you can ask for. dont bother with just a gym go for the full health club. lovely jubbly.
