Personally I'm suspicious of anyone who needs to come to your door to drum up business (apart from window cleaners for some reason). No good comes of it IME.

If you want the job doing, and you quite liked the quote, then do the sensible thing: get some more quotes before you agree to anything.

I think you have to be over 70 or on certain benefits to have it done for free, but they are a genuine company
Treat other's how you like to be treated.

have you actually read any of the posts in this thread?

do you know anything at all about this company, & their relationship with the energy companies, councils & the government?

Yes, I have. It makes little difference. My point is that I'm suspicious of companies who need to use cold-calling to drum up business, regardless of their credentials or associations. That is up to me and moreover, it's energy companies who are deciding to stop doorstep sales, councils who issue 'No cold-calling' stickers and governments who advise people not to be taken in by unscrupulous traders.

It's actually free, so no need to get other quotes.

They didn't ask about benefits or anything...my daughter's in the process of buying her own house so if it goes through in time I'll give them her address, if they are reputable as seems to be the case.

I have recently used Mark group and I find that they are pretty efficient. They provided me with a free survey first and gave me a discounted price because I do not have any benefits. Mark group is also having some offers currently until a certain period. Besides that, I have a friend who is working for Mark group (as a salesman) - so it was easier and quicker for me to reach (although I know how sometimes when salesman come knocking on your door you feel insecure thinking its a scam - knowing someone working as a salesman secures that feeling but of course there are some salesmen who do scam, etc ) Also, Mark group contractors were good too. I'm glad to do the insulation through my friend :)

No problems with Mark Group. We had it done because it was free and my other half was unemployed at the time.

We had our loft insulated and cavity wall done after a cold call like this. I don't remember the name of the organisation sorry. We had it done free and we aren't on any means tested benefits, I think it depends on your council perhaps?

Well I had to call the police out today because of a rep from yes company!!

He came to my door all nice and all that
Asked if I'd heard of the government grants, told him vaguely
Then he asked if I owner or rented
Then asked how we accessed the loft told him by ladder

He then proceeded to try and come in my house to go look in the loft
I told him no he's not coming in, he then proceeded to get very arsy with me and very pushy telling me how was I ever going to get a survey done if I wasn't going to let him in
I said I wasn't letting him in as i dont want him in my house a d also cause my husband wasn't home
He asked when would he be home
Told him non of his business and said if I want this stuff doing I will sort it mysrlf and for him to go away, shutting the door in his face

Omg he really did make my blood boil!!!

I had to all the police as I was worried for some of the elderly residents in my area.
Sadly I don't think they found them

But I'm absolutely disgusted in this guy and tbh all bloody door step sellers
Stickers saying no do nothing even if you point them out to them as been told they are told to ignore the stickers

Think Martin needs to do something to get ALL doorstep sellers banned
I love War Of The Worlds:heart2:
