If you want the job doing, and you quite liked the quote, then do the sensible thing: get some more quotes before you agree to anything.
The thing is if these people did not come knocking the door how would we know about having loft insulation and cavity wall insulation free?0 -
I wouldnt advise anyone to use this Company.I needed some electrical work doing in the loft and the electrician discovered that there were many areas where they had not installed the correct depth of insulation -11 inches.They had cleverly covered more or less everywhere with the 6 inch insulation but there were areas where the 4 inch insulation was omitted underneath ! (between the joists).It also explained a damp mouldy patch on the ceiling as there was no insulation at all in this area.The installers were incredibly quick and i can now see why -they bodged the job.Dont use this Company.
Yes I agree AVOID like the plague! Mark group fitted loft insulation leaving me with a large crack across my ceiling and smaller cracks in the bathroom from where they rushed and must have slipped! They are avoiding my calls even though I have made a complaint with head office and they decided it wasn't there responsibility as apparently the loft insulation wasn't fitted to the edge of the roof space!!! That's like 3/4 foot not insulated!! ALL LIES I had a roofer out who replaced some tiles and he said that where the crack is there is their insulation in this area!!!If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
We had a surveyor round who assured us the cavity wall insulation could be done and that the Mark Group wouldn't need scaffolding etc. On the day they said he was wrong and they couldn't do it. They did manage to do the loft insulation for which we will be charged £199. Very, very annoyed as we only booked this firm because they assured us they could do the cavity walls.
Having said that, I think we had a lucky escape, judging by the appalling reviews I've seen on another website. Well over 500 reviews and a very large number of dissatisfied customers.
My advice is don't bother, try another firm.0 -
Despite having a notice clearly visible on my front door, a Mark Group rep knocked the door and offered free cavity wall insulation. My wife (I was at work at the time) felt she could not turn him away and signed the paperwork. I checked out the reviews on this site and decided to go ahead with the installation. However, the work was very substandard. Air bricks were left hanging out of the walls, the replaced mortar was a mess (one section had the imprints of the workers three fingers where he had pressed it in to the hole), no dust sheets were used, they did not fill the walls correctly (didn’t drill and fill under toilet waste pipe etc), left a mess in and around my home, fresh mortar was left all over our patio set, and they broke a bird bath (left for me by my grandmother) rendering it unusable. After several phone calls, e-mails and visits by so called managers, a team was sent round to sort everything out. This team were at my home for twice as long as the initial installation team. Eventually I had a phone call fro their head office to check that everything had now been resolved and to offer compensation for the inconvenience and the damaged bird bath. I was offered £60!!!! This is made up of £45 to replace the bird bath and £15 compensation. This was back in November 2014 and I have not received any further communication or cheque from the Mark Group. DO NOT USE THEM.:mad:0

Had British Gas round and they agreed to do roof insulation but not cavity wall due to the damp proof course not being visible....he said it was a technicality of british gas but other companies would do it. When i pushed him for a company he said Mark Group.
So i contacted them and the surveyor came round today....seemed very professional and said theye could do it for free. Only now i am reading all these reviews and thinking i should cancel. Question is, who would do a good job of it?0 -
Having external wall insulation with mark group. Scaffolding has been up for 8 weeks. Stopping us from using rear entrance of house. Insulation took 3 weeks to put up, rubbish left at house for weeks despite contract saying house would be cleared when they left. Making phone calls every day, get told I would get phoned back, but very very rarely that happens. Emails not answered. Still waiting for house to be finished. Lied to all the time. Don't go near this company0

It's quite simple, I don't buy from or want to talk to people on my doorstep, it is no longer a trust worthy method of doing business. If the government want to insulate our homes, send us all a voucher that we can exchange for the service, we can then research the offer and when we decide it's a good deal contact the appointed provider. Don't send two blokes in high vis - jackets knocking on doors at dusk, pointless and ineffective.0

I have a notice on the door from the police "No callers" but still a man claiming to be from Mark Group rang the bell he didn't have a ladder but said the sign didn't stop him he wasn't selling anything he was very forceful demanding I take a card and listen to him I shut the door. The sign is there as we are both disabled and have been threatened by these insulation companies in the past. I wish the government could find another way of doing this as these frequent callers and phone calls are annoying and I don't like people coming to my door and demanding entrance to my home.0

Mark Group now in liquidation, having only been bought in July by SunEdison who's aim was to focus on solar panel installations;
"SunEdison had originally bought the Mark Group in July because the British group had moved heavily into the insulation market only to see business collapse due to various government policy changes. The American group planned to switch the Mark Group expertise and staff out of insulation and into solar, only to find that ministers were starting to reduce subsidies in that sector, too."

Install a spy hole into your door, then only answer to people you know, problem solved!0
