Thousands back for Credit Limit increase without notification

in Credit cards
Hello
I had a phone call yesterday to say that I could claim back thousands of pounds for a credit card I used to have with Barclays. Barclays increased my credit limit without me knowing which is apparently against the law. This was a few years ago. This company (can't remember who they said they were) said that I should pay them £275.00 using my credit card so that they could claim thousands back. I obviously did not give them my card details over the phone.
Has anyone heard of this and is it genuine?
Thanks in advance.

Of course it is. You can put the compensation in the same savings account as the compensation for all the various accidents that you have had but can't remember and were somebody else's fault.

Bottom line - No. It will have been in the T&Cs that they can vary credit limits. If you didn't want it then all you had to do was contact them and tell them. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
