in Credit cards
Hi,
I received a cold call today from a company called Consumer Credit Services with regards to ppi, i told them not interested then he asked me if I had any credit cards. I told them I had ,then they proceeded to tell me if any of the card companies had increased my credit limit without my written consent then they are in breach of the consumer credit act and I would be able to claim monies back from them. Has anyone experienced this kind of call or managed to claim any money back for this action or could anyone shed any light on this.
Many thanks

Sounds like a big scam! Credit card issuers increase the limits from time to time and that's often a good thing (people complain about reductions, not increment). If you are not happy with the credit limit increase then just give them a ring and they will revert your credit limit to the previous one. I don't think you can claim anything because you haven't lost anything. There should be a section under the Terms and Conditions you signed before applying for the card(s) saying there will be a periodic account review and they may increase/decrease your credit limit based on various factors etc.0

These companies have to try something new now that they can't get people to pay to get their credit card debts cancelled just because they were taken out before 2007 or whenever it was.
I was wondering what the next thing would be.

So now there will be a multitude of posts with the heading
MY CREDIT CARD LIMIT WAS INCREASED WHAT COMPENSATION CAN I CLAIM
I was phoned up by a company that said I could get my credit card debts wiped out because my credit card limit was increased without my permission.
I despair.0 -

Sorry OP. Not laughing at you as such. Just the notion that CC companies could have to award people monies for this.....
What would it be termed as i wonder. Gross, indecent temptation maybe.....0 -
I posted a query about this here a couple of weeks back. On the advice of members I went off and did a little research, requested a copy of my original agreement from the card company (which they sent swiftly) and deduced that although they had indeed increased my credit limit AND the rate of interest without my express permission, there was in very small print the option for me to cancel them doing this, thus meaning that by doing nothing I was actually accepting the new terms. I was rung again this morning by DTI almost frantically trying to panic me into taking action. I deduce that as said above they are desperate to get people to part with their cash by any means now that the laws have changed.0

My credit card arrived from Halifax but it was blue instead of the pink one I ordered, can I claim MONIES?????????????????
There's a 100% reliable way to tell if something is a scam. If it uses the word monies, it's a scam. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
What a complete load of !!!!!!, OP; you can not be serious?
Whoever told you this crap about them breaching this that and other regulation about increasing your limit is lying to you?
When you enter in to a revolving credit agreement you agree that your credit limit will change based on your credit profile and account conduct.
What on earth is this pathetic society we live in coming to!
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -

no need to be so sarcastic, if you read my post properly I said I had a cold call. I thought the idea of a forum was to share information and ask questions when when you are unsure of an answer to something!:eek:0 -

Are you quite certain about your wild (and incorrect) claim above?
I suggest you check your facts because pre 04/07 cases that do not comply are unenforceable - no if's or but's - 100% guaranteed!
The 12 test cases going through the courts right now will put pay to that - just to let you know MBNA have already lost the first 2 cases (of 8).....
Consumer victory all round i'd say :rotfl: :rotfl:
Now what was the name of that song again? Ahh, I remember 'things, can only get better....'2010 - year of the troll
