What is a revoked driving licence?

My inurance states it would definately be invalid if I had my licence revoked. It wouldn't be. If I hit a third party, they would be obliged to pay, and would pursue me for the costs as a civil case. So it cannot be invalid. The only way it would be is if they wrote to me and officially gave me notice of cancellation, then cancelled it. They can't cancel third party cover, even if I break the t&c's without telling me. The fact they say it doesn't make it true.0

If the licence is shown as having been revoked then it will be shown at DVLA as "expired" so right now they don't have a licence. The T's and C's of the insurance policy will need a close examination."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

That is why there is nothing cut and dried, it all depends on the wording of the policy, most seem to have similar wording to 'holds, or has held and is not disqualified from holding, a driving licence', they don't normally mention revoked, yours is one of the ones that does.0 -
You posts are confirming my earlier suspicions that this is not going to be simple.0

If they'd pay out to a third party then under the rta you'd have insurance.0 -
Conclusion - reapply for licence asap and ask insurer if the circumstances mean she would have been insured.
If the insurer agrees she was/is covered, she needs to obtain written confirmation from them to produce in court to prove the cover was in place at the time.
A not-guilty plea, backed by the evidence mentioned should see her acquitted.
If found guilty, she faces an IN10 conviction, 6-8 points and an income-based fine, normally around the £500 mark.
She may also find herself facing a "driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence" charge, although it's not clear if she has already been summonsed for the no insurance charge alone?I am a mortgage broker. A good plan, and as they are dealing with a parking offence they may be (wrongly?) assuming that the revoked licence means 'no insurance', and as she was not actually driving, not dealing with 'driving other than in accordance with a licence'.0 -

No, your insurance would be invalid. The insurance company wouldn't be paying out under third party insurance as you think but paying out as they are required to under law when it was changed a few years back. The law was basically changed so that when a driver broke the terms of their insurance, were subsequently uninsured and had an accident, the third party didn't lose out. That doesn't mean you were covered by insurance.0 -
