Why do sellers lie for no reason?!?

Though it might sound heartless, I'm afraid I take buyer or seller failures due to health issues/bereavement/death/alien abduction with a pinch of salt.
If a buyer doesn't pay, I NPB whatever the reason. If a seller won't send an item, I'll make a paypal claim, neg them and move on.
I have encountered cases where there has been a genuine reason where a buyer or seller has been unable to complete, but this is extremely rare. Whatever the lame excuse, it's usually compromised by their own buying or selling activity or their own feedback."The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

well it's an extreme excuse.. but perhaps they did think to post the earliest sales in their inbox and only finally got down to yours at the end. it is possible. i'm more inclined to be kindly to ebayers with good fb who suddenly through you a weird excuse as i was one of those sellers last year - i had to pull out of a sale as one of my children became suddenly critically ill and i just could not find the time to post the item etc. naturally buyer was very put out and thought i was lying. fortunately he didn't neg me though.0

The amount of sellers who I have had in hospital, sons/mother's cat/left trainer in hospital. Mother's have died, goldfish have died, Father's have spontaneously combusted.
