I have now been informed on top of my all inclusive £5 cubic metre there is a standing charge of £69.84. It would have been nice to know when I was making the decision to revert or not!

So now the figures for a cubic metre in SW is £5.10 + standing charge. We currently use about 2 m3 a week for 3 people which apparently is high.

The charges are clearly set out on the SWW website-there is always a standing charge.

Not high at all. The average use in UK is approx 55 Cubic Metres per person per year. So for 3 people a little over 3 m3 a week.

Although with those high prices in the South West, consumption might be lower than the UK average.

Thank you I did have a look through that yesterday when I found out about the standing charge. I was a bit over zealous about the costs involved when speaking to them last year which is why they gave me the all inclusive figure. I should have done my own research but thought I would mention it here so no-one else gets caught out.

Thank you for that information Cardew it makes me feel more normal :D I'll think of it as contributing towards my sons fair share as he shares the water rates with 10 friends.
