Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 9th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help othersthat don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly butif not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you goto bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two dailythreads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Hugs to Molly, & Marie. PP, glad to hear hubby got your money back.
Bad night last night, couldn't get to sleep when I went to bed & then couldn't stay asleep & got woken up by hubby screaming in my ear, poor bu&&er had cramp in his foot, of course as soon as it stopped he fell asleep, I, on the other hand was wide awake with adrenalin coursing through my body.
Still time to get ready for work now, I'm worried about a work colleague, she got married a month before I did & her marriage is now on the rocks, all I can do is listen.
I'm working long days this week, 6:30 'til 3:30 & struggling to fit in a lunch break, I wouldn't mind if I got paid for the extra hours, but fat chance of that.
Lazy tea tonight, ham, egg & chips, packups need making & breakfast need cooking so time I made a move.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

:jMorning Hester and all those sleepyheads not yet up
Just sitting here in bed with a cup of tea debating whether to go in to school today or not. I have a pounding headache, very sore throat, hacking cough and a chest infection.:(
Still grey and wet here. Mind you, we did have a bout of sunshine late yesterday afternoon. I was in the greenhouse at the time and actually broke out in a [STRIKE]sweat[/STRIKE] glow because it was so hot:eek:
The washing has been on the line for two days now:o It's too warm to put the heating on (or I'm too tight!!!) so it will have to hang there a bit longer.
Am on the second month of a DMP and the budget hasn't quite worked out as well as the first month so will have to stretch the pennies a bit more for the next few days. Still, it's a challenge and I love challenges.
Had a letter from DD's school yesterday about Sports Day in June. I thought it was a bit early for that malarky as it's still winter but realised that we are halfway through May already. My garden is looking like a jungle. It's too wet to do anything out there so the grass and weeds are growing like mad. It's going to take an awful lot of work to bring it back once the sun comes out.
Hey ho, don't you just love this country.
Have a good day

Morning all,
Wet and horrible here again, so fed up. Lillibet, I have so much to do in the garden too, but its just to wet to get out there atm.
Marie I was so sad to hear about Kerry, I really hope that she returns soon, and poor thunder, its a very hard time for you xxx
Off to work today, must put a wash on when I get back tonight, so fed up with this weather, and having washing about the place.
Dinner will be chicken fried rice, and lunch will either be a chicken salad, or a tuna salad.
Have good days all xx
ps car passed MOT :j (thanks Tappers)0 -
Morning all,
A wet day here too, but quite warm for late autumn(I'm in New Zealand). From today's weather you'd never believe that I had to scrape the ice from my car windows before I could go to work the other day.
I have flapjack in the oven, but since I had to bin the first lot because I used salt instead of sugar, it can't claim to be particularly Money-Saving. Not my sharpest moment, especially as the container was clearly labelled salt!
A man came around earlier trying to get me to sign up to some sort of deal with the local mechanics where I signed up for a year and got free servicing and reduced labour. However I just got my car back from another garage yesterday, and it has been deemed terminally ill. So, much to my dismay, I'm in the market for a new(old) car.
Later I will set up the sewing machine and run up the curtain I cut out and pinned yesterday.0 -
Morning :hello:
Glad Master Beans is doing well, Bitsy :T
Moorhen, I'll have to read back, not sure what happened but I'm glad things turned out well
Meanmarie
I went out to give the girls some corn at teatime, Cassie was missing. I found her at the bottom of the garden with her head stuck in a small gap in the fence (damn kids who live over the back use our fence as a goal, they're always splitting it when the ball slams into it). She was there for up to three hours and had laid an egg while standing up. She was terrified and took a couple of hours to calm down but seemed OK by bedtime. I wedged the bit of fence back into place and put the compost bin in front of it.
I didn't sleep very well and I've woken up full of cold. I'm not having it, go away. lol. For 18 months there's been something - frozen shoulder then sciatica then master tru's ex hassles. I am not putting up with anything else. I need to fix me properly, and I have things to do.
*stomps off like Kevin the teenager* :mad:Bulletproof0 -
Morning everyone
Adelight - our trip at the weekend was to Holt in Norfolk, lovely part of the country.
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Raining again, started in the night, doesn't look like it's stopped since! DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was pork chops, new pots, carrots, broccolli, peas and gravy. DH wasn't too late home from the dentist and had got on well - treatment all done now. Remembered to get the meat out to defrost for tonights dinner, so we'll be having stew and dumplings, feels like that sort of food is required with this horrible weather!
Work was busy yesterday, and then we had a power cut, we have to close if we have no power, so then did what jobs we could then had to sit and wait to see if we could go home, the electricians arrived 10 minutes before we could go home but they have to do so many safety checks etc they still hadn't got power restored before we left, I'm assuming they've fixed it and we're back to normal this morning - I haven't heard anything different, so will head in to work as normal! It's going to be awful though because so many people tried to visit yesterday when we were closed, they'll all come back today saying it's urgent etc!!
Only have to work today until lunchtime, then on days' off, but DH and I are going to London on Friday morning, so looking forward to that, I'm cooking for our friends on Friday evening, then we'll go into London whilst the menfolk go to their meeting on Saturday, would like to visit Borough Market, I'll see if my friend wants to go.
Time I got moving ready for work, have a good day everyone x
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning all, damp and dreary here today but not too wet on our walk. Jack had to have a roll in the wet grass now and there is a definite odour of wet dog in the air. Still I'm off to school so will leave it to DH to complain about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chicken tikka and salad for tea and need to put on a wash when I get home.
Hugs to all in need esp Meanmarie, LW, PenPin and HH.
