What phone for Grandpa?
Comments
-
After many hours scouting around London, testing many phones, I finally went for the Samsung Galaxy Y.
It has big digital numbers (buttons) and quite big letters (when the phone is in landscape mode). My grandpa's thick fingers can use the digital touch-screen buttons, but I still got him a Stylus Pen from maplin that works on touch-screen phones and iPads.
As a bonus, the phone comes with voice recognition, so I set up the broadband router with the phone so he can now talk (dictate) text messages before sending them. He can use the stylus when out and about with no voice recognition (due to no broadband around). I could put him on a 3G sim card but he is with another network provider at the moment and doesn't like the hassle of transferring his number to a new network (3G in this case).
As a phone for the elderly, with thick fingers!, I recommend this phone for the above purposes/reasons. It's not the 100% perfect solution but it's a start.
