Call me a cynic, but there are a great many men in powerful positions who have a vested interest in the CSA NOT working. Much better from their point of view to make the mother pay for 100% of child care when the marriage breaks down, and if not, then the taxpayer can pick up the bill for one's offspring even though you yourself are well off.

Totally agree with you. I'm a cynic too.

Thanks to you all for all your input and help on this, it REALLY is very much appreciated.

I still believe that with CSA not issuing fines then there is no incentive for companied to "play ball" especially when they know they will get away with it, for over 12 months from some of these responses.

I've mailed my MP today to see if he can offer any assistance/shed any light on this so I will be sure to keep you all informed.

Thanks again for all your help and advise.

Off to get my tea now, I'm sure I can smell it burning as I type!!!!

If the employer doesn't pay, then they should send the case down to the Criminal Compliance team who have to write and give them a set time in which to comply. Otherwise they have to threaten them with Court action. THat usually works, hence the reason for no fines! Most employers do comply eventually even if they push and push it until they get a summons. If I were you, I would insist that you speak to a supervisor if the employer does not pay soon and try to get them to refer it to the criminal compliance team to start action.

I think I will give them until the 24th - the date they are advising me I should of received the NEXT payment and if still nothing then I will try that route - thanks! I've not heard of this team, wonder if they try to keep that one quiet deliberately????

I should really try to keep my conspiracy theories under wrap!

Imo, as a male PWC, this is a bit sexist. Sorry but this is a soapbox of mine - Sensemaya knows!

thanks kelloggs, your previous has been invaluable in providing advise for all us CSA victims. How is your own battle going? Surely your overdue maintenance could have bought a luxury yacht by now?

Arrears should in my opinion, attract an interest rate for the claimant of no lower than the Bank of England base rate. The way I see it, no matter whose fault/delay it is, the absent parent is able to receive interest on the PWC's money until the day it leaves their account. Why should he utilise my money to earn bank account interest?

I couldn't agree more. My ex earns a huge salary and owes me substantial arrears. During the time he failed to pay he was able to buy two homes, a couple of Mercedes, go on holidays abroad (without my daughter). When he was told to pay arrears he insisted he could only pay the minimum 2%. He still owns two homes, two mercedes and eats out a lot and stays at expensive hotels.

A few months ago he asked me to refund £3.50 he had paid for a school tie for dd. I told him he could take it out of the interest he is getting on the arrears.

I have fortunately never incurred bank charges or debt because of unpaid child support, but think it such cases the nrp should be made to pay those as well.

    Waves to Mr GG...Yes, I do know:beer:

Mr GG provided me with info a while back. I'm sure he is happy for me to post the link:

As for the NRP paying interest. Originally they had to. But that was too tough on the poor NRP, wasn't it, so it was abandoned. On the other hand, it wasn't fair on NRPs that wanted to pay child support and had to wait...and wait...and wait...until the CSA got round to making the assessment thus accumulating substantial arrears. Then the assessment could very well be incorrect.

I do agree interest should be added for the non -complaint NRPs. But could the CSA cope with the added adminstration?

Please can we stop with the 'Addition of interest' it is such a poor idea.
I must add that I have had no dealings with the CSA, so I am not saying it for my benefit.

As for the payment of bank charges, this would lead to the NRP asking the PWC with a full breakdown of their Bank statements etc.

What if the interest took the NRP below the threshold of money the government said that they needed to live, and this triggered a new assessment?

If parents want money they're due, the easier the system, the better.
Can you imagine the extra back-log created by someone disputing the amount, then the arrears and then by the interest applied?

    No, no and thrice no!

    Hi Welshcakes!!

No news. Warrant not yet executed and the process is very slow with regards Order for Sale, but so far it is going ahead. Case is with Criminal Complaince team who are writing to his mortgage company to get evidence of his housing costs in order to calculate the exact equity in the property. Will ask them what happens next but I understand that he has to be offered an interview to give his reasons why they should not go ahead and I get interviewed too, not sure what next though. Will let you know!!
