HELP Catastrophic Car Failure, Still paying it off, Dealer charging us a fortune

Can someone give advice please.

Our car has had a major engine catastrophe, we are 16 months away from paying it off, the dealer (major car manufacturer) who bought it from and with whom we have had it exclusively serviced with cannot tell us what has caused it other than that it is going to cost us £6000 to have it repaired. The car is only worth £2500 and we have £2300 still to pay off. They are palming us off, we have suspicions about the last service and a potential mistake they have made regarding the serene fluid replacement procedure. There is obviously more detail to write but it's so long and i'm so desperate for advice on where to begin. The finance company say they only take an interest in such cases within 6 months of the purchase of the vehicle but given they still technically own the vehicle until we've paid it off they should surely have some leverage with the company.

    Amount of agreement £ 9203.

The car is a Peugeot 307 Diesel 2.0 Hdi

Initial reason given by garage is turbo blown,
then they said there was 8 litres too much oil in the car, which they then said we had overfilled but we haven't,
then they said we must maintain it properly, which we have on time and with only them,
now they say it's the engine and probably the gearbox that need replacing too.

A voluntary termination and hand the car back looks like the option here.

I'd go with this too, they're looking for reasons to blame you and they're seriously incompetent.

It's not difficult when you know about certain manufacturers and common problems. The 307 is a well reknowned money pit.

The whiff of garlic gives it away ;)

    5t.

The fact the op said it had a cerine fluid service was a bit of a giveaway really.
