I used to try doing that, but I kept getting various courier firms saying they refused to leave things where instructed to avoid liability. A real pain.

Amazon, that's an interesting thought, thanks.

Depending on the courier, if your chosen retailer has a box for special instructions you can authorise the delivery to a neighbour if needed (IIRC some couriers will only leave it with a neighbour if they are told so on the package/in advance).

We have pretty much every courier under the sun leave stuff with us for a couple of neighbours, including the local DPD guy who has picked up and dropped off the same item at least 3 times now:p

You just expect everything to be delivered on your terms regardless of the impact on others.

    I am not expecting anything.

What I wrote was, that businesses who are involved in online selling must adapt to the changing demographic and provide convenient delivery options for their customers

The irony is that to pay for the things in the first place, tends to involve being out at work in the weekdays preventing receipt

And what are your on about "regardless of the impact on others"? Everyone chooses their own vocation. If delivery drivers don't want to deliver certain hours, then don't be a delivery driver.
