10,000 Posts I've been Money Tipped!
We have a new charity shop opened where I live and it caters for furniture but the prices thats asked is a little on the high side to be honest .My DD manged to get a table and six chairs for nowt from one of her clients as he said he was only going to throw it on the tip.She is a letting agent and often folk bring their own bits and bobs and the landlord has to bin perfectly good stuff She also got from the same chap a washing machine that was in better nck that her own so she nabbed that smartish and the chap even lent her a trolley to help move it.Often if you ask around folk especially when redecorating are buying new and just want to out the old
I managed to buy a small bathroom box with a hinged lid and with a damanged cork seat that I repainted and replaced the cork tile the cost was 50p for the box 45p for the tile and 1.99 for a small pot of paint from wilkinsons to paint it pale pink to match my bathroom.Cheap as chips and has done the job.In the box I keep bathroom cleaning stuff and I sit on the top of the seat when i get out of the shower .I am looking around now for a small bookcase to put into the cupboiard under the stairs to hold some tinned stuff to ease the congestion in my kitchen cupboards I know I will find one eventually ,probably in a junk shop and it will be rubbed down and repainted and will do what I want it to.I love renovating old stuff and my small sander is my friend and has paid for its self over and over again

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker Savvy Shopper!
Havent been to the auctions but have bought furniture from Emmaus (charity, look to see if there is one near you). Their prices are very good I find, bought a large pine dresser for £85, the smaller furniture like dressing tables, cabinets etc is much cheaper. I have seen lots there that I would buy. I got kilner jars for 20p and 30p, egg poacher £2 (wanted one of these for ages). Its my favourite place to go and they have a high turnover in the big one near me.
