You can't really slate BT for what has happened in the past. Many engineers have cut corners in days gone by, and much of the network is legacy stuff from the days of the GPO.

Current Network quality standards require dropwires to be fitted to something substantial - typically brick. Attaching to Facia boards is not permitted.

You may need to be a little cunning to get them out and state that the wire is dangerously low. If there is a road crossing involved you could yank it down and call it in, claiming a passing vehicle had brought it down. biggrin.gif

It is correct that a certain height is required on dropwires - but his applies only to road crossings and varies depending on if it is a high load route or not. If they can't achieve this by attaching it to brick they will either have to put a new, taller pole in - or in extreme cases put a local carrier pole close to your house.

    Hope that helps

In total it was just over 1km of cable and duct, 14 'days' work and 'our' bill to BT was just short of 75k.
The bill to the owner of the property...................just over £130 :T

I bet the owner complained about the bill, too.
