Backing out of accepted job offer?

I would not be so harsh. If there is some basis of trust between employer and employee, I would take their word for it as indeed on certain things I would give and keep my word. You really were very foolish not to get your employers offer in writing and I cannot believe you are hesitiating about taking the new job offer.
The value of not getting this in writing is that you know for a fact that you cannot trust this lot further than you can throw them and you can act accordingly.
If I could get another job quickly, I would and I would leave this lot without notice - after all the notice has been handed in and I would be quite clear that I had been asked to stay on for more money which had not materialised.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
