What database? All that happens is the car will flag up as no insurance, the police will pull you, and as a driver if you can convince them you're insured they'll let you go, if you can't they'll sieze the car. Easiest way to convince them is to show the paper copy of you own insurance, with doc on it, with no restrictions, or let them phone your insurer, and hope the insurer gets it right.0 -

Just have the cover and remember your reg number, that's all there is to it.0 -

If you've been stopped that many times, you're driving the wrong car.. If you're stoping them, and they tell you a number plate, and you let them all go, you need a bit of training. But I'm sure your experiences are worth a post or too either way.0

I can confirm this to be the case. Sisters car flagged up for no insurance when I was driving it.
They eventually got so fed up phoning round and trying to talk to someone to see if my own TPFT policy covered me, they sent me on my way.
Edited to add, it's down to how you talk to them/your attitude as well.0 -
