Ive used Jewel in the Crown and was very happy with them.

A small company who specialise in Turkey and Goa, they have a lot of smaller properties which we prefer. The reps are young and energetic and appear to know their stuff. If you look at their web site you will see the late specials and you can get some really good prices - even for August.

We took a late to the Leda Hotel in Ovacik in August a few years ago. Lovely hotel - a bit tired looking but clean and well run - set back from the main road.Massive swimming pool with plenty of sunbeds. Some evening entertainment-turkish night, bingo etc but it was only a 5 min dolmus to Hisarnou (10 to Fethiya) if you are looking for something a bit more :) Ali and Jane, the managers are really friendly and helpful. The only downside was the lack of air conditioning although fans are available (poa) We enjoyed sitting on the balcony early evenings catching the breeze watching the gliders come down the mountains.

To give you an idea of how hot it can get in August - two days they shut the pool to deter people from sunbathing - the thermometers were "popping" at 50oC :)

Icmeler is really nice, friendly, family place and just up the road from Marmaris where its really lively - so not too far to go if you want to boogey on down all night! Only bummer is that it's about 2hrs from Dalaman airport.
  • Hi There,
My girlfriend and I have holidayed twice with Simply Travel at the Tamarisk Beach Hotel on the Bodrum Peninsular and can very much recommend it. It is on a bay with clean clear water and its own private beach ( not sandy, but still very nice ). There are hammocks hung between the tamarisk trees ( thus the name ) inviting you to relax in the shade with a book and your partner!! The service is absolutely impecable ( the owner lives on site ). The manager and staff will do anything to help and will also allow one to run a tab throughout your stay. Simply Travel are slightly upmarket attracting "The Times newspaper" sort or clientele ( they often advertise in this paper or on last minute.com where we bagged ours-incidently we got an offer twice of two for the price of one! ).
The hotel is set in lush gardens with simple, basic but clean and well maintained rooms, Breakfast is included in an open restaurant 10 yards from the sea. The hotel also runs a free bus service into Bodrum where you can mingle, shop and barter...and eat very well and very cheaply. The Hotel is certainly not an 18-30...which is excellent ( despite us being in the "young" bracket ) so no stereos please!..and the company offer nannys, babysitting, and watersports. It is an absolute gem of a place and a gem of a location and shouldnt be missed.

  • Hi

We went to Gumbet last year in June - very hot then and not the best place for familes as its very hilly and the beach isn't so good - would be a good place for older children though. So saying this we had a great time there.
