Because the glass is ceramic in wood burners I have found that Hob brite cleans it after use.
I have a fire belly double sided wood burner and its important for the glass to be clean, by cleaning the morning after with hob brite keeps it clean without ant abrasion.
Normally costs about £1.50 at tesco's

If your stove is burning correctly it shouldnt be getting blackened, theres either inadequate air flow through the stove / burning too cold or you are burning wet or unseasoned wood. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

i use a piece of damp kitchen roll, dip into the ash from the pan, use this to rub on the glass -then buff with clean paper towel - cheap as chips and works !0

toilet paper with a dap of water...no probs, not that it ever gets black, just a wee run once every couple weeks maybe0
