HTC One S - Best deals

I'm with Orange at the minute. Got a HTC Desire, 400 minutes, unlimited texts and 500mb data. Paying around about £25 a month (this was an 18 months contract).

My contract is up on 8th June. I want to stick with HTC and like the look of the One S.

So far Orange seem very uninterested. Best I have been offered is 100 minutes (!) unlimited texts and 500mb data for £31 a month on 18 month contract.

I don't use a lot of minutes but that is because I have a lot of magic numbers (been with Orange 5 years) and most my family are with Orange too so this is something I have to consider if moving networks.

I've called Orange 3 times over the last couple of weeks and they are not interested in doing anything, just keep offering me the Wildfire S. My partners contract is also up for renewal and he's found the same.

I am just wondering if anyone has this phone and what your are paying, or what prices you have been offered. Ideally I want to deal with a phone network direct rather than messing around with cashback etc (although quidco kind of cashback I dont mind, its just redeeming I dont like)

I did try doing a search but couldn't really find anything relevant.

Thanks

Check out the Orange retentions thread - will give you some idea of what people are being offered.

    Thanks.

I did try doing a search in that topic but it was just showing all kinds of HTC phones. I also posted in the topic a few days ago but didn't get any reply.

I wasn't meaning in terms of that specific phone but you can generally get some idea of the kind of deals that are being offered. That said - I've always found that the best way to approach upgrades is to have an idea of what you want and what you can get elsewhere.

I've always found them more more responsive if I push for the package I want first and the phone as second priority (I'm more interested in value for money than phone spec) and thats worked well for me over the last few years.

I've never tried to bargain outside the last week or two of a contract though so you might get a better deal once you are inside the last month (you are still just outwith that at the moment)

    Thanks for that.

I was trying to get something sorted today so I could give my 30 days notice tomorrow to have my contract end on the day its due to.

Am I better hanging on until nearer the end date?

Have been offered the HTC Desire S 400 mins unlimited texts 750mb data on an 18 month contract for £28.50 from Phones 4 U but ideally I do want to be paying £25ish.

you are definitely better off once you are within you final month as you can give your 30 days notice and leave at no cost to you. It used to be the case you were best to do it at the end or start of the month but no idea if thats still the case.

You may also need to phone up several times and/or request your PAC code to get a decent offer.

Indeed ... you won't get a good deal until you request your PAC.

I'm just a bit concerned that I request my PAC code and then they don't call. Orange and o2 are the only decent networks around here and o2 seem to be much more expensive.

My contract for the HTC desire runs out on the 14th may, i am on 600 mims, unltd texts and 500 mb data.
I tried phoning them and they also would offer me a HTC Wildfire but not any of the HTC One series unless i was willing to pay £36 a month , an incredibly rude and unhelpful woman- so i told them to get lost, left it a few days then rang again and this time the bloke on the phone was SO helpful, totally different. Anyway i ended up with the HTC one S that i wanted with 600 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited Data.- all for £25 a month !!!!!!
I was so surprised , i got it the following day and it has been absolutely brilliant.
So it pays to ring again and you might get a decent person thats helpful.

Requesting your PAC doesn't commit you to leaving ... if you don't use it within 30 days it expires and you carry on. It just shows that you might!

I've had the same experience, they just don't seem interested. One woman I have spoke to was helpful, and was saying it was disgraceful they couldn't get it any lower.

Was the £25 a month on an 24 month contract?
