    You could try on-ear Sennheiser HD202's - cheapish and good enough to be used in edit suites across the BBC

    I like Shures
    you can get refurbs on eBay for about £40. £70+ new
    far heavier duty cabling than cheaper sets
    nice tight in ear fit too(if you like that)
    I was getting around a year to 18 months from mine
    that was out on delivery 5/6 days a week
    running,gym etc
    wrapped round the ipod when not in use and stuffed in bag/pocket

    I wasn't being rude by stating that. I still use the cheap headphones that came with my phone(cheapies I guess) over a year ago. My son has gone through about 10 pairs at least in that time. I wouldn't spend more than a quid for his headphones:rotfl:

    I got a pair of canalphones in ASDA the other day. Not a bad sound once you figure out how to put them in. Bit uncomfortable though...

    £15 on sennheiser earbuds will be great for her needs really. Certainly good enough for me, and miles better than ipod/iphone earbuds. The ones with inline volume and pause button are usually listed for ipods but also work fine on my android mobile.

    Mine kept falling out. But that's pretty much the case for all 'buds. :(

    Foam wears out, though. Sony make excellent and highly regarded silicon tips which are fairly cheap. Like the ones on my ie8s in this pic
