Vodafones terrible customer service
Hi Everyone,
My first post here at money saving expert. Ive been viewing the site and forum for a long time and I've decided to register to see if anyone can help me with an issue I'm having with Vodafone. So thanks in advance.
I have been a long time customer of Vodafone. I had an iphone contract with them that had expired and I decided to go onto what I thought was a sim only rolling monthly tariff until the new iphone was released. I called up and was put on a £10.50 per month tariff.
A couple of months later I walked into a vodafone store to upgrade to the new iphone 4s. I was told in store that I wasn't able to upgrade as I was locked into a 24 month sim only contract!
I asked the man in the store for assistance with this as I had never agreed to a 24 month contract. He just kept telling me he couldnt do anything and that I should call vodafone.
I then called them while in the store and spoke to a lady who told me that I was couldnt upgrade as I had agreed to a 24 month contract. I told her this was not true and she said they would have to listen back to the call. I said thats fine.
I heard nothing more from here. I called them a week later and spoke to a manager who said he was able to listen to the call there and then. He went away for a few minutes and came back saying that he had listened to the call and that the contract should not have been 24 months but 12 and that the sales person had not made it clear to me what I was getting.
I told them that I was sick of all this and that I wanted to leave vodafone. He then told me that I couldnt as he had changed me to a 12 month contract. I said that I didnt agree to this change and that I wanted out of the contract as it was not what I thought or was told I was getting. He kept refusing saying that he had changed it to 12 months.
I have called them several times and I cant get to talk to anyone that can do anything. One customer service rep even told me that in the notes I had agreed with the manager that my contact would be changed to 12 months.
So basically I want to know what I can do to get away from this horrible company with out having to pay the remainder of a contact I didnt agree to!
If anyone can help me it would be amazing!!!
thanks,
Scott

You should have checked what you were agreeing to and this should have been in the email or paperwork which would have been sent to you after you called and changed to the SIM only deal.
The SIM only 30 day contracts are a lot more expensive than you are paying and to get the deal at only £10.50 per month, it would have to be a 12 month contract, not sure where the 24 months come from.0 -
Hi scottyr,
I am sorry to hear that there was a mix up with your contract length.
I will be happy to look into this in more detail for you. You can email me directly via the address here with WRT135 in the subject.
If you also include a link to your post and a contact number, I will get in touch.
Many thanks,
Heidi

Vodafone don't send any confirmation of what is agreed on the phone. I can well understand where the OP is coming from.
Good luck!0
