You can set your own postage fees once you upgrade to a pro-seller.

For me personally I have been on Amazon since October and my Amazon are around 3-4 times my eBay sales, this week for example we had 656 eBay sales and 2669 Amazon sales (and still more INR's etc on eBay than Amazon but that is a completey separate discussion)

The postage fees for CDs, DVDs, Books & Games are fixed regardless or not your a pro-seller. The only way you can charge less if you change to FBA and send the stock to Amazon.

Also ensure to pause your account once you reach a balance of £1000 as this triggers an account 'review'.

If you carry on selling and the review was negative, you will be screwed as your account will be closed and balance reserved for 30 days.

Don't want to scaremonger but in the nicest way, Amazon are as dodgy as they come.

No they're not. A seller central account gives the option to create your own shipping model and edit shipping cost.

Maybe this is seller central and not pro merchant, I don't know as the difference is very minimal so a bit confusing.

I didn't know about the £1000. There are plenty of reports though of sellers being suspended randomly and monies held for months- just like paypal really, except as it isn't as big a forum yet it doesn't get as well reported.

I know that the bigger 'working from home' sellers tend to clear their monies every day rather than leave a balance. I don't think that is possible for newbies though.

Not for books, CDs and DVDs it doesn't! Kite2010 is correct.

take care with postage charges when you factor in a sale price. i've just been caught out by RM increase on a large book which turned out weightier than i thought and cost £ 5.60 to mail which killed my proft margin. with this massive postage hike i'm now going to have to comb through all my inventory and only keep the clear winners. ah well the charity shops will benefit, but by golly it's hard to earn anything these days.

Delayed response here but shipping costs can be set, we sell CD's only and we can do it. I have just looked at it in my account. Its under 'shipping settings', there are various options and prices you can set. i must admit this page looks like it has had a makeover so don't know if it is a new addition or what and we have never set shipping costs but looking at it, I can see no reason why I couldn't just do it now. I must admit our account has totally changed recently, certainly doesn't look like a standard selling/sellercentral account.

Yep, this is the threshold before an account goes on review. Now more than ever it is inevitable.

Amazons latest trick is to simply block all access to the account so you go to log in and just cant as if you have entered a wrong password. No emails from them nothing. Meanwhile customers are emailing you and the last lot of orders are sitting there awaiting dispatch. I'm not 100% convinced this is legal.....
