    Thanks PP.
They are a bit steep - not far off 10% in most cases!
Way above inflation in all as far as I can see.
Better stock up on a book of 1st & 2nd class stamps before the increases come into effect!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'ts bloody daylight robbery, they only went up in August! And they still lose stuff and deliver late!
  • There is a nice price reduction at the top end of the weights though - have a look at 1k upwards, it's come down by 49p!!!
  • Can't believe they are going up again. Posted 4 small, light items yesterday and it still cost me a fortune. Not sure if Ebay is worth carrying on with.
    now mum of 4!!!

I always paying end up paying over the odds for postage anyway, thanks to the absurd size rules.

Queue up for 20 minutes at the post office for a 44p large letter stamp, or stick two 2nd class stamps on from the machine?

I already have to pay 2p extra for a letter that way!

They've removed the anomaly where it was cheaper to send packets between 1.75 and 2kg by Special Delivery than first class.

And this comes on top of the new feedback system which allows buyers to rate postage and packaging

Save a bit of money by buying a pricing in proportion ruler from Staples for £2.99. On a couple of visits to the PO items had just not fitted in the Large letter slot and I was charged £1.27 for packet whereas it would have been 65p Ist Class large letter. With the ruler I now always check first and often with a bit of careful manipulation/arrangemt of the item and packaging I can get them down to 65p so nearlhalf price! It infuriates my PO staff when I say 'Large Letter' on what looks a packet and they always check and say 'Just' but I say 'Just' is Just Enough! Get a ruler and keep those fees down whenever possible!!

totally agree. Just that extra bit of bubble wrap at the ends can make it too thick!

    just as a reminder :

The maximum dimensions for a Letter are 240mm x 165mm and no thicker than 5mm. It must be no heavier than 100g.
The maximum dimensions for a Large Letter are: 353mm x 250mm and no thicker than 25mm. It must be no heavier than 750g.
Any item larger or heavier than these is classed as a Packet, with the maximum dimensions being 610mm x 460mm x 460mm.

There is no wieght limit for 1st Class items when sent as a Packet. The maximum weight limit for a 2nd class item is 750g. If a 2nd class item is sent as a Packet the maximum weight limit then becomes 1000g

Isn't the service supposed to get better if the prices go up? I had to wait 2 weeks for a 1st class letter a couple of months back!
