Combining Sky+ Sky Multiroom and Freesat

We have Sky+ in the lounge and Sky multiroom in the kitchen. Both of which we wish to keep. We want to add another tv with live pause & record two channel function. For this additional setup, we are considering Freesat. Can this be run off the existing Sky dish? There are already three cables coming from the Sky dish. I presume that the Freesat would need two cables, so making 5. Or would I need a second dish?

We did something similar. We had Sky+ and a freesat TV and decided to get Sky Multiroom. This meant that we needed 5 cables going to the dish.
The Sky engineer simply replaced the quad LNB with an octo LNB and no additional dish was required.
Hope this helps.0 -
That's great thanks. I shall look into an octo LNB.0

One point,cruesfan was adding a second Sky subscription box to the existing set up,Sky wont fit an Octo LNB unless you buy the freesat from them,if you buy your own box from a n other source,then you'll have to either DIY or get an intendant satellite installer to fit a quad.0 -
I don't want to get Sky freesat as I pay them enough already. Will Sky get funny if an independant fits an octo LNB? Obviously they won't know unless I have a problem in the future which requires a call out.0

Nope,but you can buy them for around £10-£20 online & if you're any good at DIY,could do it yourself cheaper.
It's quite rare for an LNB to go faulty nowerdays anyway & if you called them out they'd just swap one for one.The work orders only give basic info (Sky+/multiroom) & if the is a fault it'll say something like "Service Call-Non Sky+ box" depending what you tell them is faulty.0 -

Sorry,I meant £20+,the £10-20 would be for a quad,but the are loads on Flea Bay for under £20;

Although it depends on where you but them from,prices below range from £26 to £49

The eBay one is from Scotland. Very likely stolen from Sky. I'm amazed that Sky don't clamp down on this.0

Normally the engineers (or did when I was there) carried an accountable van stock of 2 of each STB type,one of each was new for extra installs & the reconditioned one for service calls,Octo LNB & TV Link.You were issued what you required for a days work on the day & frequent checks were done on the van.
If they are stolen,then they would more likely have came from a distribution depot & not one of the satellite depots imo.0
