Need help with car tax

Hi everyone, first post but need help.

It's a Sunday, I have just got back from a weekend abroad and my car tax has run out, (yes I should have checked), I need pick my girlfriend up from the airport tomorrow.

Now the issue is, I haven't got v5c reg cert as bought the car six months ago and available car taxed it for me, I have no reminder letter from dvla, DVLA want me to contact them to get my reg mark (plate) allocated as they don't have it on their system, it was bought with private plates and I made them swap them before I picked it up.

So no V11 reminder,
no V5C reg cert,
it's a sunday now and a bank holiday tomorrow so all post offices and the DVLA are closed and I need to drive my car and it's parked on the road.

What are my options and what can I do to get it taxed asap, like now!! ;(.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I cant even declare SORN as I do not have either the v11 ref number or v5 reg number? I also need either of these to tax the car?

You can't tax it. Why haven't you chased the V5 in the 6 months you've had the car?

You need to get it off the public road NOW.

You need to arrange for someone else/taxi/bus to pick your girlfriend up tomorrow.

Clearly you cannot get a tax disc before Tuesday.

Get the thing off the road until you have a valid tax disc.
That will at least stop you picking up any further penalties before then.

well you've had 6 months since you've owned the car to sort it out.

what I don't understand though is the plate thing, how hasn't it got one allocated?

how haven't you got a V5? did the DVLA not send you one, did you not apply for one? did you lose it? obviously the car isn't in your name, or you would have got a tax reminder..

lack of tax seems to be the least of your worries.

I have sent all the necessary documents to get the V5 and the useless DVLA wait 6 months to send me one letter saying they can't issue one until the reg plate is allocated and I need to call them which I can't do until Tuesday.

How can I tax it even then as I only have my MOT cert and Insurance docs?

    So your cars not registered?

So you have no number plates, insurance or mot. When the police check their database.

    i dont think so
its amazing how unorganised people always blame someone else for their inadequacies isnt it
lets hope you are better at other things than details eh?
are you sure you know which airport to go to?

Yes I have valid insurance. And a valid MOT cert. As I have the paperwork as mentioned in my previous post.

I bought the car with a private plate which I guess must have been a option from new hence why the actual original plate is not allocated, before I collected the car, I got available car to switch them to the original plate. I insured it under the same original plate. And the MOT which is also valid is under the same original plate.

I have done everything asked to get the v5, the only thing I am guilty of is not re-taxing it in time before going away, or maybe chasing up the v5 sooner, but neither of these would had been possible if what the posts say is true because I can't tax it at the moment, even If I wanted to.

I have been driving it round for 6 months, perfectly legally with valid insurance, mot, tax etc etc etc.

Thanks for some of the comments but it does not look like I can declare sorn or tax it at the moment.
