Thank you for your advice, might look at a 5 night break instead as being 2 hours from the airprort we might need to spend a night there and then the money counts up.0

We plan on going March next you just me and hubby for 7 days, virgin is offering a week at the comfort inn hotel for £2000 is there away to get this cheaper? How did you book your trip to new york, any advice would be really helpful.
 Hi diddidonna,
As you can see there is lot's of advice, my wife and daughter went last year for 4 nights and found it a bit hectic, I went with them this year and we stayed for 7 nights and this seemed to be more realistic and not having to cram everything in. Like most people once you have been to NYC you want to go back which I certainly do, we travelled in March through Expedia with Virgin flights via LHR and stayed at the Broadway Plaza Hotel, total cost for 3 was £2146 plus transfers to/from JFK. The Hotel was very good although the area in which the Hotel is situated is not the best but you are approx 20 minutes walk from Times Square or 3 stops on the subway, have a look on Tripadvisor for the Hotel, it gets some very good ratings. It's certainly not the Ritz but the rooms are big and most of them sleep 4 and breakfast is included with unlimited tea/coffee 24/7 also it's clean and the staff are very friendly.0

As youre not going til next March, I would probably wait for the flight sales in January to book too. I think there are also sales in the summer too.
Im just wondering where you are looking to get a price of £2000 though, just a quick check on expedia for 5 nights over random dates in March comes up with trips for around £700-800 per person for 5 nights for flight and good hotel. So if you waited for a sale you should get better than that.0

I stayed in NY over St Patricks day with my OH this year, we went thur to mon and stayed in the Roosevelt which is about 5min from times square, and really nice. we paid just under £1100 in total, we booked in dec 11 through expedia.we flew from Glasgow, via heathrow with BA but if we had flown direct the price would have been closer to your quote.

not really, if someone just wants a quick answer to something. The NY thread is just too long and I personally get fed up with some of the NY snobs on there who look down on people who want to do the tourist stuff.0

When you do a flight search just look for LON-NYC and then the other airport (e.g. BOS) to LON. Usually this is no more expensive than a normal return.0

We went for 5 nights in December, stayed at Ink 48 hotel, which was lovely - it didn't cost £2000. Flights and hotel booked through Thompson after much searching online. We did however get stranded there for an extra 4 nights due to the weather, which cost us considerably more than we planned for!0

If you go to NY in the winter, there's always the danger that flights will be affected due to snow. However, the airports on the East Coast are much better at dealing with the white stuff than we are in the UK. I've known JKF cope with a few feet of snow within a few hours - but, as you found, the knock on effect to bookings can last days.0
