I have been checking the weather for march and its seems like a coat and umbrella (Some days) is needed but i would rather it cooler than hot.

I have been lucky enough to visit New York City many times, was there this March and weather was late 50's /early 60's and showers, have been there with snow showers and also been there in the late 70's.
Do your homework and you can save lots of money, plenty of deals to be had. but avoid St Pats weekend its over hyped and damn expensive.

NYC isn't worth anything like £2000 and a week is longer than you'll need anyway.

Don't forget to factor in spending costs, NYC is not a cheap city by any stretch of the imagination.

Ive gone in March for 5 nights for around £500 each - admittedly that was a couple of year ago, but even now - £1k each! I would not pay anywhere near that.

Have a look on Expedia for flight and hotel ideas. Or sometimes BA has good deals.

Thank you, doing lots of research, picked the hotel that was the easy part now it's the flights.

Look at the flight and hotel packages in the various websites, as Ive often found that can save you a lot. We stayed in a hilton in NYC and we could not have afforded to stay there if we had booked it seperately. There is sometimes an option to type in the hotel name if you are set on somewhere. Although I tend to just start with the lowest price, and work my way up to the first one with flights & hotel Im happy with!

I'd certainly agree that a week in NYC is too long and there's no need to spend anywhere near £2000.

Maybe look at 3-4 nights in the city (the first night will likely be a writeoff anyway) then a few more elsewhere - you could take the train to DC or Boston for a few more nights and then fly home from there. Look at "open jaw" deals.

The mistake a lot of people make is trying to cram in every possible tourist attraction into a single visit and then get stressed out about the scheduling and the costs. It's much better to have a short, but relaxed trip, pick a few things to do and leave other things for next time.
