basically my question is, which would be the better car for me now, the new shape ka, 1.2 petrol or keep diesel fiesta.
i got the fiesta when the kids lived at home, but now its just me, i fancy a smaller car. would a 1.2 ka petrol be any cheaper to run than a turbo diesel fiesta. both are cheap 20/30 tax, fiesta is group 4 insurance, ka is group 2

IMO there is very little in it as far as running costs.
Where you will lose is on the depreciation on the new car/cost of financing the change.
The ka is built on the same floor pan as the fiat 500, but isn't so highly rated by some in the motoring fraternity.
You don't say how old/mileage of existing car or your own position or what sort of mileage you do.
If the fiesta is relatively young and in good repair I wouldn't be rushing to change."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Keep the fiesta..Sealed pot challenger # 10
1v100 £15/3000 -
As said need to know how old the Fiesta is.Google gives you answers use it.........0

Unless Fiesta is old/high mileage keep the Fiesta. Test drove a new Ka and didn't like it at all, got the Fiesta instead, much better drive.
Don't know if it is still a problem with the new Ka's but the old type had rust issues, old flatmate pretty much had hers rewealded over 5 years.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -
fiesta is only two years old 19,000 miles on clock
now there is only me at home, i do approx 6,000 miles per year, mainly short journeys thru town, which i was told petrol would be cheaper for, and diesel was only more economical for longer journeys, which i no longer do on a regular basis.
the ka has climate control and heated leather seats, whilst nice, i can live without
thanks for all answers so farloves to knit and crochet for others0 -
Keep the car you have, there is no need to change now and it would only cost you more money.0

Without any doubt keep your Fiesta, you`ll have many years of `cheap` motoring with it.0 -
My wife had a Fiesta Ghia and changed for a smaller new shape Ka 2 years ago. Bad move. Terrible car to Drive and very hard ride. Have just changed it for the new Yaris T Spirit model. The Yaris is as good as the Fiesta.
Either keep the Fiesta or look for something else apart from the Ka. As said the Fiat 500 uses the same floor pan and engine. It is also built in same Polish factory from recollection. However no comparison in ride, drive, etc. if you want to change for for the 500 in lieu of the Ka. My view is that the new Ka is the worse Car Ford have produced in a long time. The old Ka was a much superior motor.0 -

Disagree with that and according to "Honest John":
Fun to drive and economical, based on the FIAT 500 but handles so much better it donated its suspension improvements to the 500. More room in rear than 500.
Did I like it? Too right I did. It's comfortable, stylish and great fun to drive.
It isn't as complete a car as the cheaper 5-door, 5-seater Hyundai i10, but its fun looks and endless options list should appeal to younger drivers and to fans of the blue oval who haven't been bitten by the FIAT 500 bug0 -
Would definately keep the fiesta.
Ford are pulling out of the Fiat deal as nowone is buying the Ka and everyone is buying the Fiat.
Original Ka was a cheap entry level car that sold as low as £4500 new. The new model may be technically better but its lost its charm and doesnt have the same fun to drive element to it.
2 year old diesel fiesta that works - keep it.0
