What shower

Ok, as I've asked the loo and bath question what make of shower would you recommend.

Not sure what you need to know but we have a combi boiler. Water pressure isn't brilliant but water board say that's just the way it is here.

Mira Element.... Aqualisa Midas 200 or 300....both thermostatic shower mixers. 5 year warranty, replacement parts will be available in the future.

If this is a shower over a bath then consider a bath shower mixer (on the deck) and save on the costs of bath taps.

It is going to be an over bath shower.

I don't know about make but I would go for an electric shower for when/if the boiler breaks down.
But then I am a pessimist

Hi: Aqualisa Midas 200 and 300 both come as bath shower mixers. .....and will be cheaper to install/replace than a built in valve mixer or an electric:eek::eek::eek::eek: shower.

We are getting quotes for some new bathrooms. Every installer who has been round recommends Aqualisa. Every time I go to a new build there is some posh German make like Grohe etc. What's the deal with Aqualisa? Are they really good or are the installers getting a cut?

Aqualisa, Mira and Grohe etal make good products, provide excellent technical and warranty support, and maintain long availability of spares.

My OH is not incentivised to recommend their products. Experienced tradepersons recommend products based on , you guessed it, personal experience.

That is good to hear. The installer we had round recommended the Aqualisa digital showers. Will prob go for one of them as they sound cool.

My friend recently had a bathroom fitted and went for a Grohe Thermostatic Bar, he's very pleased with it. My local bath showroom (which my plumber recommended to pay a visit) has a special offer on the midas plus for £225. The only thing I'm wary about is the "eco-ness' of the Midas plus as its got an overhead drencher (and separate detachable head) and I'm on a water meter. My current shower is an electric one so anything that comes off the combi should be good. The assistant says its a very good deal and he rates them (I have no reason to doubt him) but I do value my friend's opinion and the GroheTherm1000 (with shower kit at £241) seems ok.

Any thoughts on this please?

and they do use prodigious amounts of water but you real concern should be whether or not your combi boiler can cope in relation to its being able to heat enough water so that you get a hot shower via the rainhead for longer than 30 microseconds.

Oh and Grohe are a good make but there again so are Aqualisa and Mira.

Thanks keystone. I have a Worcester-Bosch combi and have been advised that this is sufficient for a mains shower, but you are right, there's no point in having copious amounts of like-warm water. :-)
