Tesco are trying to win back customers by offering ....

I read in the metro (or was it the manchester evening news) last night that a well known motor organisations was surprised that tesco had put their prices up after the contaminated fuel incident!
This is obviously why!The sign of a wasted life is a tidy house, Welcome to the chaos!0 -

I am sure they will but for now I will buy from my nearest shell garage that tends to be 2p cheaper than tescos anyway. Tesco only held their hands up towards the end of this debacle - causing worry and stress for all the people who have forked out for repairs (and the general inconvenience/cost of having a broken down car through no fault of your own).
Lily that would have been around the time that their supplier told them the nature of the problem then!0 -

I wonder how many will take them up on their offer or use Shell/BP?
So, having helped cause the problem that has led to petrol prices going up by over 3p a litre at all petrol stations near where I live, they offer 3p a litre off to try to get back the lost customers. Shameless.
Oh, and as for the "full compensation", hopefully people won't have to wait 4 years, go to court and get Tesco's stock impounded like a previous victim:
Alcohol seized in Tesco fuel row
"Despite admitting liability, despite the court judgment and despite the fact that High Court Enforcement Officers have now seized £60,000 of goods, Tesco has yet to pay David Bond a penny of the £2,690 still owed to him."
Tesco said: "A cheque for the full amount is now on its way to Mr Bond. We sincerely apologise to him for the delay, which was the result of an administrative oversight"
If they can't deal with one case then perhaps the money spent on 4-page adverts and money off petrol would be better spent putting in some decent administration, as I suspect there will be quite a few cases for them to deal with.

I'm up north and there's not been a price increase on petrol here nor has there been 3p off a litre offers."As we know, there are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns; The ones we don't know we don't know."

Seems like a good time to get cheaper petrol.
It won't cost them anything, they will get the money back by claiming from the supplier.
As for the full-page adverts etc, it is a complete PR stunt - it is their legal duty to right anything that has been caused by their selling goods (petrol) not fit for purpose and they are just trying to make trhemselves look good rather than go beyond their legal obligations.
Having said that, I do like Tesco and am not wanting to knock them unnecessarily, just say what I think the situiation actually is.0 -
I went to Tesco today, spent £4 but the woman had never heard of them giving away vouchers for petrol discount.0

I wouldn't buy petrol from them now even if it was 10p off a litre - can I trust them? No!

If you use Tesco's self service checkout, you don't get a 3p voucherClaimed back in 2007
Barclays Bank £2245
Barclaycard £ 504
Capital One £ 100
NOW SAVING LOTS OF MONEY!0 -
My local store is giving these vouchers out to clubcard members and it was not affected by the contaminated fuel.
In fact, there's a large sign at the entrance to the petrol station stating that the petrol is all clear and the supply to it has never been affected by the contamination0
