Will paypal pay bank charges???

Someone has opened a dispute with me through Paypal which has resulted in £298 being removed from my bank account to be 'on hold' in my paypal account....

Which has resulted in me incurring bank charges because I went over my OD limit...

I didn't even have any idea they were taking money?!?!?

Can I do anything???

What is the reason for the dispute?

Someone is complaining that the item is not as described... yet there were 8 hi res images on the listing etc....

They have no argument really.... it should go in my favour.

They will hold the funds until the dispute is resolved.

I don't think PayPal will pay any bank charges.

Read the small print :( They can reverse any recent transfers from your pp account.

Yup and by opening a PayPal account you agreed to these terms and conditions.

  • I knew they could knock your PayPal account into minus but I was lead to believe that they had to ask you to deposit the money as they were not allowed to touch your Bank

In fact, ring your bank and say that you PayPal have taken the money without your permission. Your bank should then do a chargeback against Pay Pal.

If the funds were actually cleared in your bank account, and Paypal have taken them out then speak to you bank - Paypal cannot legally do this, and if you request that the payment be reversed then it should be (although this will almost certainly result in your Paypal account being made negative and then frozen - you will either have to pay the balance, and some additional charges, or else get a new Paypal account)

If you requested a transfer from Paypal to your bank account, and you were depending on the transfer reaching your account before a payment went out of it then you're not likely to be in luck. At any point until the payment is cleared into your bank account, Paypal can reverse the transfer in order to hold your money.

I'm sure if PayPal have your bank details and a problem arises then they can and will take the funds and hold them until the dispute is resolved.
