    Hello Lisa

You say you have the paperwork in which the exit fee is clearly stated - exactly which piece of paperwork, please? I ask because Abbey want to charge me £55 for redeeming a mortgage I took out in 1990, and none of the paperwork I have (including standard and special conditions) make any mention of any charge at all. Thanks.

    Alec

Hi, I actually have 2 pieces of paperwork - the first is a leaflet called 'Additional Services and Tariff of Charges' and the second is my coversion letter (when my fixed rate was up and I converted to a base rate tracker mortgage) - there is details on charges in there and section 8 is what fees you must pay and it says repayment fee is £99.

    HTH

I dont have any account info from my mortgage with Barclays so want to send the letter rather than call them. I looked at the contacts table in the article and there is only a phone number listed for Barclays, does anyone know the address for Barclays that I should send my letter to?

    Thanks

    hi,
I would like to know if you can claim charges from a homeowner loan (2nd charge on mortgage), I remortgaged from Alliance & Leicester last year, and also paid off a homeowner loan to Capstone mortgages, would I be entitled to a refund from both? Please can someone help me with this?

    Regards.

Mortgage was in joint names - since divorced and both parties are requested to sign acceptance document - no contact with ex husband for some-time - any suggestions?
Given that the refund is due to you both jointly, if you can't contact your ex-husband, you can't get the money.

I don't see how you think that you should be able to, as this would involve stealing your ex-husband's share.

in the tariff of charges booklet is deeds handling the same as MEAF?
  • we have got a early payment charge of nearly £8,000 if we want to get out of our mortgage, but we are no longer in a fixed period or special deal do we have to pay this?
  • My original contract with A&L in 2002 stated a £75 exit fee applied. We were charged £295. Following the advice on this site I asked for a refund of the difference. I rejected the first offer of £100 and today received a cheque for the full £220 and a letter stating that the A&L have decided to reduce fees for those who took out mortgages before August 04 to the original level. I hope this is of help to some of you at least.
  • Hi
Is it just the banks included in the table who have been overcharging their customers. We remortgaged from Leeds and Holbeck 5 years ago but unfortunatley dont have the relevant paperwork?
