I agree entirely with sharkmark. I've never heard of this before - if you need a phone for your job your employer should be supplying it. Are there any other employees in this "scheme"?0

Thank you for explaining that! I thought I was going mad. Yes I've seen the 11 months on Vodafone too.... this all makes sense now0 -
sharkmark wrote:I am not sure legally your employer is able to do this - was it part of your contract when you joined the company? They cannot simply expect you to part with your cash to buy a phone (or line rental in this case) this is THEIR responsibility.
I think this is disgraceful - which company is it (large household name) or small independent trader?
It's a small company not a household name. The people who own the company are reasonable people. It is a manager that they have hired as my boss, who is also new, that is being pretty unpleasant about it. I'm thinking of just holding off buying a phone and seeing if the topic arises again when they can't contact me.0 -
I use my Virgin Payg phone for occassional business purposes. I pay by d/d and they send out a monthly bill.

If you have a spare phone that can be unlocked, grab a free sim and opt to pay by d/d monthly.
