Reclaiming PPI from Morgan Stanley.
Hi everyone. I have been going through my old statements after discussions with some work colleagues and have been trying to start proceedings to claim back PPI.
My main problem is not the fact that i was mis-sold PPI, it just appeared one month in my statements. I have statements dating back to early 2002 and suddenly in October 2002 the payment protection begins. Going through the statements, it ends in May 2007.
At no point do i believe i would have asked for this, so am confused as to why i was paying it.
The problem today has been finding out how to get hold of someone to speak about it.
I phoned Barclaycard, as i believe they bought out Morgan Stanley cards, but as my account was closed before this happened, they have told me on the phone they wont have any details regarding me. I was told to write to them though, which in itself confused me as why would a letter help when they have no alleged record of me.
If i have to contact Morgan Stanley somehow, has anyone done this and recommend the best means of doing this.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Chris.

Hi there
What I don't understand from what you've said, is why -when you've kept all your statements going back that far (and well done to you, you're more organised than me, I respect you for that)- why you didn't call up the C/Card company when PPI first appeared.
In other words, someone who is as well organised and on the ball as you clearly are would have checked every statement every month and queried it at the time, I would have thought?0 -
The reason is, i have spent most of my life in denial with my finances.
In the past, i racked up huge debts, and got into a cycle of not even opening the letters.
The minimum payment was coming out of my bank and i tried to forget anything was going wrong.
Once i got myself together and sorted everything out, i still took no notice of the breakdown of each statement.
So, not organised, just a mug in the past(

But you kept the statements, which is to your credit big-time. I never do...i shread them once I've paid it.
Question is now, what reason can you use to say it was 'miss sold'?0 -
Good point.
Reading back through my original post, it wasn't mis sold, it just appeared and after some years, disappeared.
This, once i get a contact to write to, will be my main complaint.0 -
Write to Barclays as MS do not do credit cards any more and they are based in New York, they bought Goldfish CC and then sold them to Barclays.
Give Barclays as much info as you can and see what they can do with this.0 -

Barclaycard state that they have no information of my Morgan Stanley Credit Card as it was closed in August 2007. I assume this to be correct but please let me know if just a fob off?!?!?
They have suggested that request the documentation from the creditor to whom Morgan Stanley transferred my account. Any idea?0
