    Doesn't disabling that prevent you from using a USB keyboard to access the BIOS?


    I believe you are correct for pre-XP OS.

    Certainly it was also the case that with legacy usb enabled and usb device attached it could cause boot issues. I would think they shouldn't be an issue in a new system. Anyway make sure legacy is disabled, and check the boot sequence in yr bios; you may have two options, different devices, plus hdd sequence.

    Again you are partly right (using an old board with XP, you would be correct).

    All OS pre XP (inc DOS) had to have legacy enabled for USB mice to work - hence the name. Most boards/bios that were manufactured after XP was launched do not require legacy enabled if running XP/Vista/7 etc, definitively not required on modern boards with win 7. Hope that is clearer!

    Go on, try it on your new Win 7 HP rig............
